Baby Oil & Meg's 105

Why would you use 105 to correct halo's?

For me, I was working on RIDS throughout the car.
 
Yes, baby oil instead of water. I tried water and an ONR solution but it did little in helping. I didn't get that fanatical (IPA wipes in between). I had some RIDS and usual swirl marks (light) that I wanted to correct. I am happy with the results.

Yes, I did find myself using more towels.

Agreed Rsufer, 205 gets the job done!

I have yet to try the M105-M205 combo. They're still getting M85 at work. I'm going to buy my own supplies for work since everyone else there has no clue.

Hunter09, as the veterans of this industry say, do a spot first. In this case, with 205. Try with different pads. If you get the results you want, then you ARE getting the job DONE with the least aggressive method therefore leaving more paint on the car.

Thinking out loud...Wouldn't adding oil to 105 (even a tiny bit) tend to make it more like Ultimate Compound?

We know the UC was derived from 105, and one thing they (Megs) did was to tweak it for less dusting.

Not trying start a flame war, just a question...

I've used this a few times now. Works great. I don't spritz it on though, I just put a very small drop or 2 onto the pad before applying product. Imo any more than that makes the pad/product feel to slick to be doing anything. Whether that's true or not I don't know for sure.

I called on body shops to introduce new products at one time in my life. I'm surprised how many phone calls I get from guys TODAY working on body shops still using M85 or something worse and they have never heard of M105, M205 or Menzerna polishes.

Maybe these guys just don't have anyone calling on them anymore? The countermen and women can sometimes be useless too... The local PBE store here in Stuart don't carry any modern stuff. I tried to talk to them once and they blew me off...

Well said Rene and tying it together with the big picture of leaving more paint on the car is the key reason why a person should use the least aggressive product approach.

I have got to try this myself. 105 works great until it dusts so this seems perfect.
 
This topic came in a great timming. I was wondering about this mater just yesterday....
On the old topic about it, it had too much people talking it down.... It's good to see this idea got a lot better reception now....
M105 is just not to me.... I really didn't got along with it..... So instead of trashing it out, I'll just give the baby oil a try.....
Now question is:
Baby oil + m105 + mf cutting pad ?
What do you guys think? My guess is that it wouldn't be a good idea...

I've explained how the M85 is not working as well as we would like here. So I will take it upon my self to bring some M105-M205 some LC pads and try them out.
The big thing I see that's crazy is what they call the "Mix"
M85, Simoniz correction creme and car Brights sure shine

I've seen my share of this too... people trying to make their own miracle product.

This all comes from a lack of good, current information. My guess is you're the only one where you work that knows what a "Discussion Forum" is let along belongs to one, reads one and posts to one.

People tend to get to a point where they decide they no longer want to learn anything new. It's just how some people are wired. Then they start mixing secret sauce.

Ok so I took the infor you guys gave me. M205 with a white pad did the trick. And it did it really quick just a few passes. I did a test spot and was happy to see how easy it was. I spent a good 6-8 hours on it. I use KLASSE aio and then KLASSE glaze now just waiting 8 hours to top it off with pinnacle
 
Ok just an update I used the KLASSE glaze and I didn't like it at all. Streaked like crazy. So I stripped it off. I went with Meg's glaze instead and toped it off with Meg's 27 yellow wax. I think I'm getting rid of my KLASSE. I'm not good enough to use it. Lol
 
Picked some baby oil up for the next time I use M105. Will give some feedback.
