Hello. Been a long, rough year for me health-wise, including yet another surgery on my shoulder. Havent been able to do anything to my car other than a basic wash. Thankfully it was coated with WG Uber Ceramic! Its held up wonderfully! Ok, on to my question. Ive always use LC HydroTech pads with a 5" BP. I now see there are some "new" pads from LC, specifically the Kompressor pads. How would these compare with the HydroTechs? I dont see them in 5", only 6? If thats the case I will probably stick with the HydroTechs. Thoughts? Info? Thanks so much. Great to be back, and man, I have a lot to catch up on here!

Welcome back. Not sure what you're using DA-wise. If you've got a Flex 3401, the Hybrids are preferred. If you've got a 15 or 21mm long throw DA, the LC thin pros are pretty popular.

Thanks for the reply. Using a GG6.

I also use a GG6 with a 5" BP and recently bought the Thin Pros. Nice pads. However, I dug out my HydroTech Tangerines this weekend and was pleasantly surprised how well these work. So much so that I ordered 6 more of them. They aren't very durable but if you're an enthusiast like me they tend to last a while. They still seem to have an excellent balance of cut and finish. Case in point, this weekend I played around with M100 on a tangerine pad on a black maxima and it finished out LSP ready.

Welcome back StangFan! I hope your shoulder is feeling much better and you're able to get back into this rather physically demanding passion.

I still use my traditional DA occassionally after getting a Flex 3401 earlier this year. When i do grab my PC i really like the Thin Pro pads from LC. Less mass to throw around and i like the more direct "feel" of both cutting and finishing.

The Kompressor pad have the slots that help them contour to the surface, and dissipate heat.

They are also offered in Hydrotech European Prepolymer foams.

I believe the 6" pad takes a 5" plate.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with using the standard Hydrotech pads. Some of my all time favorite foams are the Hydrotechs.
