It was immediately apparent that this car needed some work when it was dropped off. The paint was very dirty and there were water stains that indicated it had not been washed in quite a while. There was a large amount of brake dust built up on the wheels, some of which had started to bond to the wheels and was extremely difficult to remove. The interior of this car was dirty - dust and dirt in every crack and crevice, dirty floor mats, and stains on the leather (some of which I was unable to remove in the short amount of time I had to work on the interior).

This car was scheduled for an Advanced Protection Detail (wash, clay, glaze, sealant, wheel sealant), Basic Interior Detail (vacuum, leather cleaned and conditioned, trim cleaned and dressed) and Engine Detail. After washing the car and pulling it into the garage for inspection, it was apparent that this car could have benefited from paint correction, however the owner was not discouraged by the small scratches and swirls.

^I doubt this car had ever been clayed. This was after 1/3 of the hood. Needless to say, I used a lot of clay!

^I took this 50/50 shot to demonstrate how products like glaze and sealant work to greatly enhance the depth and gloss of your paint. The Left side has been washed and clayed while the Right side has been washed, clayed, glazed, and Sealed (X2). The difference is subtle, but still very noticeable. The right side looks truly black while the left side is somewhat gray. The true difference is in the feel of the paint. The finished side is very smooth and slick compared to the unfinished side.

*remember, this was not a paint correction, so defects still remain. Glaze helps to hide some minor imperfections, however.

^It's all about the minor details. Polishing the very rusty license plate frame. What good is a shiny car with rusty pieces on it?

Wow - looks fantastic!

Great job and nice pics as usual.:props:

Great work. The CG combo works wonders to add gloss to paint.

^Thank you!!

Yeah, the CG EZ Creme, Black Light, V7 combo never fails to amaze me. I always feel like the paint is slick and smooth after clay, but it feels like sandpaper compared to the finish you get after using those products.

Awesome job, what did you do to restore the license plate?

Thanks!

Car looks amazing!

I have a question though, what is your thought process using a glaze to hide swirls instead of using a polish to remove them?

Seems like you could correct a majority of them with the same effort as applying glaze. Thanks!

Budget was the main concern here. The customer absolutely did not want to pay for correction. EZ Creme glaze isn't particularly high in filling, but it does certainly add a depth and gloss to paint because it is so slick. I always explain the benefits of correction to my customers, but that does not necessarily mean that is the right process for them. This customer decided that correction was simply not practical as he was simply wanting it to look presentable as he would be listing it for sale. Therefore the goal for this job was strictly to clean the vehicle up to the owners specifications in order to prep it for sale. There were certainly a lot of visible defects, but to the owner's point... the vast majority of consumers will never nit pick over swirl marks when purchasing a vehicle because most people are unaware of what swirls are.

Also, it takes roughly 25-30 min to apply a layer of glaze and another 15 to apply a sealant afterwards, where a one step polish on this size vehicle would take 4-6 hours.... not nearly the same amount of time requirement, and therefore not nearly the same price.

FWIW, I no longer offer non-correction services as my availability is so limited that I simply do not have time to cater to anything other than higher end correction jobs... but this is simply another example of working to provide what your customer desires, and not what you desire.

zmcgovern45, appreciate you taking the time to explain your thought process on this!
