my usual course of action is optimum compound or polish, severety dependent, and then opti-seal. i absolutely love optimum and use pretty much everything in his line.

i had a late model honda today with some holograms, from a previous attack from a local detailer with wool and a rotary, so i decided to try the poli-seal that has been sitting on my shelf to get take care of the holograms and seal it up easy. the holograms disappeared, but man, this stuff seemed to dust up MAJORLY for me. i mean, horrific. what is the deal?

PC with orange pad, tried two pads just to be sure, and poli-seal. i spread it with the machine off, then spread it on 1, then 3, when it started to dust, then finally 6 to make it disappear.

it seemed to dust as soon as it saw any type of speed, like i said, when it was on 3.

Sounds like it needs to be shaken longer. How old is the PS?

i bought it from autogeek like 2 months ago. i shook it VERY well as i do with pretty much any liquid in my life lol. the funny thing about it is the label on it, when i received it, was WRECKED. it's super duper uber crinkled and very odd looking. it seems to look and smell just fine, it was not seperated or anything when i applied it to the pad....

this is odd.

I use poli-seal all the time and doesn't seem to dust much at all for me. In fact, it gums up the pads pretty quickly. Never used the polish or compound but I though optimum always pitched the minimal dusting as one of their attributes.

never had all that much dust from their waxes nor polyseal.

i had the same problem, first time user of poliseal, used my udm, white pad, and the stuff dusted big time at the end of the car...i was told i used too much product and i have to admit, my pad was saturated, so maybe thats the problem....i personally think that if you need an orange pad, then poliseal isnt the correct product...i would never use it outside of a white pad or softer as this stuff really doesnt seem to have much if any correction ability...

Try and mist the pad a little with water in a spray bottle. That should help you out some.

Very surprised to hear ps dusting. Maybe the pad itself wasn't thoroughly cleaned prior to use?

Poli-Seal also shouldn't "gum up" the pad either, if it is doing so consider using less than half the amount you are currently use to to prevent this from happening.

You don't have to work Poli-Seal like a typical abrasive polish, try working it a little less than say 2 minutes.

Try using three pea sized drops per 2 sq. ft. section, and don't bear down on the machine like you would with effective pc polishes like XMT. Use 7-10 lbs or pressure, you should not experience any dusting from that product if you follow these steps.

man, this advice is exactly correct. 100%!

i had some slight water spots atop my opti-sealed finish that didn't come off from washing, so ghoudassi recommended hitting it with poli-seal. i followed the above advice with orange pads and man, it came out PERFECT. so simple, a VERY small amount goes a long way and on 5-6 it took about 2-3 very light passes to remove the spots and restore the finish to post opti-seal application. to me it seems the bottle of poli-seal might last forever considering how little it takes to be effective. amazing...........

to try it in a bit of a different application, i had a small series of scratches near my siruis antenna, so i used a yellow spot buff pad with optimum compound, eliminated the scratches quickly and then whacked it with the poli-seal like i did with the rest of the car. it refined the compounded finish so quickly and easily.

i'm very pleased with the poli-seal nowthat i know how to use it!

thanks for the info.
