This was done for the owner of DC Shoes...soooo mean looking, matte black looks badass when done correctly, perfect example below. Though we had a bad experience with our E55, I would still love an CLS55/63, if they made it in manual trans I'd be heaven.

touché.....touché

Would wax or sealant bond to that finish? :p
It is a bad azz car, but I would want some paint on that!

Matte black has become a trend on cars, especially the high-end stuff. I only looks good on a few however, like the Mercedes SLR.

to each their own ... but it looks like an ugly baby !

That is one sweet looking vehicle, I like the shape/curves it has. The head lights get my attention, very nice vehicle. I agree the Matte black color is getting popular and the body style suits the color, on this vehicle that is.I too wonder how it would be to maintain the color? I'm assuming it would be as bad as a black vehicle.

That really is a very cool looking CLS55! Most of the time, when someone does it up, it ends up looking like it belongs in some low-class ghetto rap video. Although I wouldn't get the paint, it's nicely done.

I'm with Gary, anything without a shine is ugly IMO. Anything with a matte finish just looks like a half finished vehicle.

By the way, it was the old fogies that started it. Flat paint jobs (primer) were the popular thing back in the 30's and 40's with hot rodders since they normally couldn't afford a regular paint job.

wait you mean that it would have no shine to it..really? Now why would someone go and do that? I don't think I've seen a vehicle with that type of paint job in real life...mmm..maybe I have but just never really niticed.

Interesting, how would you clean/polish the paint then?

I know...one of our old neighbors had a mean Merc Sled in matte black.

The old matte blacks were done shoddy....the new ones on the right car look awsome IMO.

That car is awesome! CLS 55 AMG, but for some reason it has Brabus rims on it...
Anyway, if I would be on a market for a black car - right now it would be only Mercedes Benz, and yes, because of ceremiclear coat. I really like blacks, but hate those tiny little washing swirls. I can get away even with washing it twice a week, but don't want to polish it to often.

Looking at the shot of the engine, it might have something to do with the tuning.;)

Brabus makes custom wheels for Benz;):D
