So that you all know.... it's official I am (and have been for YEARS) seriously addicted to Barrett Jackson. (No matter where it's from) I'll either be sitting my rear end in front of the TV to catch every hour of SPEED TV's live coverage, or DVR'ing it, starting 90 minutes late and catching up while it's on-air.

Now that we have that outta' the way. :D

My buddy Rick Hendrick (sure... we hang out together all the time) just dropped a cool $1,000,000 for the Ser# 000001, 2014 Stingray Convertible. Heck, I didn't even see him BID until it hit $500,000, and once more to move it to completion.

Of course he already has (or will have once it's built) the same matching bookend in Coupe form.

After all, what good is one without the other!?!?

Have to hand it to Rick though, it's not so much about the car but the charities the he is giving millions to every year. Just that the car I guess helps take away some of the sting from dropping tens of millions every year.

Rick is a stand up guy and it sucked the way the government hounded and sent him to prison. He has done much more for others, than any of the pea brained bureaucrats that put him behind bars!

Craig Jackson has one bad ass garage!!

I'm with ya Cardaddy! My DVR is almost at capacity between Barrett-Jackson and Mecum which is live in TX as we speak.

Hey Tony seeing as you are a Barret Jackson enthusiast, did you see last years event here in Las Vegas?

Well yes I did! Every single hour!!! :D I make it a point to never miss it. We do the Fantasy bidding and everything. When Deb isn't here to watch it, I text her the fantasy car so she can bid. ;)

Yes, Rick is a class act. Actually he never went to jail over the American Honda deal. He ended up paying a fine $250K and 12 month in house detention (he was fighting leukemia at the time) and 3 years probation.

I saw the special on Craig's garage. It's a lot of money for not so many cars that's for SURE!

OMG... I have to get drive space open leading up to BJ so I don't lose stuff when its on!

I see Hendrick and Staluppi are hanging together.

Staluppi sold his entire collection at RM Auctions, actually they went TO his collection not that long ago. Sold the building, fixtures, everything. He was moving to Colorado and didn't want to take it with him I guess. :dunno: They never said exactly why he sold it all but if I'd been Craig Jackson I'd been pissed! (To not get the deal.) His collection I'd say was maybe the best I've seen as far as overall range, the way it was displayed, etc. He had not a year earlier expanded something like 15,000 sq feet upstairs at that facility. He even had a REAL drive-in movie type setup so they could invite friends over and hang out in a bunch of 50's convertibles and watch movies. THAT WAS COOL!!! :dblthumb2:

Now he's buying all over again. Wonder what he's going to build in Colorado?

Speaking of Colorado, What is that woman's name? Tammy Allen I think. Now THAT is my kind of woman! ;) Beautiful, rich, and has LOTS of cars. I could work on her swirls for days and days and days. Im the MAN
Ya wish I had a 100k to spend on some cars I want.

I hear ya'. On Thursday or Friday it'd be possible to pickup several decent drivers for 100K and I'd be more than happy. What gets me is at every auction wrap-up Mike Joy (from my neck of the woods) interviews Craig Jackson and he talks about how 'strong' the market is. BULL$HIT... With the exception of a few select cars here and there (not counting the charity cars) if I were the seller on most of them I'd be freaking suicidal! I mean.... take a car and drop 100K in a rotisserie restoration, every nut and bolt and sell it for half that. Oh yeah, that's a strong market.... if your a BUYER!!!

OTOH some cars are bringing money and you just look at the TV and scream "What the heck was he thinking!"

Oh well... it's still a ton-o-fun and I can only wish that one day we can go do Scottsdale. Talk about a fun car show! :dblthumb2:

There was a few cars selling for 15k-25 that where great cars.

Mecum has an auction down in Houston this weekend (on Velocity channel). Personally I prefer them over Barrett-Jackson. Over the years, Barrett has become more about their "brand" than the cars IMO. They now have insurance, car care products and even their own sandpaper!

If you are watching Barrett today, look under the wipe down tent, you will see your lovely Autogeek employees.

I dont want to just throw it out their as I dont have the proof at the moment but I was in uniform (Air Force) presenting the flag during the national anthem Friday and Saturday morning. I was also on the auction block watching cars roll across it most of Saturday.

Looks like y'all are living the good life Meghan! :dblthumb2:

For some I guess it's work.... but for AG-er's being at BJ, up close and personal, is about as good as it gets! :buffing:

It's all hard work! ;)

Love the W30 Olds 442's restored by Thornton Classics out of Pennsylvania. Even from the TV you can tell they are a cut above all the others. Lately, they've been breaking the 200k barrier pretty regularly.

Agreed! Rick is a great guy and has done more for cancer patients through the Be The Match Foundation than just about anyone else. I guarantee that he would not have dropped a cool mil on a Corvette (even though his first car was a Vette) if it was not going to charity, and a cancer charity for children to boot.

He was pardoned by Clinton in 2000, though. And, let us not forget that Jr. is on top of the Sprint Cup standings right now (I know, we have entered the twilight zone. I just hope he can keep it up.)

Very happy to see the respect given to Mr. Hendrick on the board. He is truly an outstanding individual and is always giving to others.

Not trying to be combative, but his first car was a '31 Chevy Coupe although he does have a soft spot for the Corvette.

Well as luck would have it, I missed some of yesterday. But... I did end up finding the live SPEED streaming in the garage while the truck race was on. :)

That was the bad part.

Now for the good part....
I hit the last Fantasy Car dead on @ 85K. Too bad I wasn't the FIRST one to hit it, ergo didn't get the 120 points. :(

Oh well, next time I'll get 'um.

Guesses on the white 67 Shelby (1 of 1) at the next event, Tony? Indianapolis I think. Over $1M? I think it could.

The latest rumor is that Staluppi is building out in Loxahachee FL. to include Hot Rods and a 50`s style dinner.
