Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale

Thank you Forrest!

The reason I ask about the charity cars being on one day is so people whom wanna contribute to the charities know what day and will not miss them. I've been watching the Barrett-Jackson auction for some time now and sorry to say it like this but all the charity cars really bog down the auction, let me explain. So there's car A and its up to whatever amount and then they say "come on guys, this car is worth more than that, let's do it for the kids", the begging really bothers me and that's what it is, begging, pleading, pandering, etc. I have nothing against people giving money to charities but I'm just trying to enjoy a rolling car show and there's just sooooo many charity cars now that I wish they were all on one day so we could get on with the show!

Kinda weird how some of the auction is on one channel and then goes to another, sucks for those whom might have one channel and not the other.

I think I heard the L-88 racecar went as a charity car or something, just wonder what that car is "really" worth, guess we'll never know now.

Begging and begging and begging

At the risk of sounding selfish.............:iagree: completely! I was complaining about the same thing last night.

As I suspected, a LOT of the money was sucked out of the room on Tuesday. It was Friday before any real money appeared again. Today has been fairly NUTS though!

Two L88's, both in the multi-million range! The 69 "Rebel" was $2.86 and the 67 L88 was $3.85! (both after buyer fees) Boy that'll put a hurting on the Ferrari guys! ;)

I don't mind the charity cars myself. I like to see just how much people will give sometimes. Sure.... it makes me sick how much money some of these guys have, so much that they NEED a write off that big. OMG!!!!!

Plus I don't generally miss a minute, so the charity cars give me time to go get a new glass of tea, as well as evacuate the old glass.

I know day one, right off the bat there was a 67 Camaro that a 16 YO kid built that was for charity and that sucker was KILLER! Final hammer price was a steal!

It was a 67 Camaro, GM crate LS 376 E-Rod package that is rated at 430hp. Paired with the engine is a Tremec TKO500 manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch. The vehicle is 50 state emissions legal, featuring Spin Tech mufflers and a 3" mandrel bent exhaust. The rear end of the car is a GM 12-bolt 3.73 posi-traction. The brakes are Baer 6-piston brakes. In terms of suspension, the Camaro has a full RideTech coilover suspension with a 4-bar rear. The fuel delivery system is an Aeromotive tank and pump. The vehicle also features a Vintage Air system, Ron Davis radiator, Budnik 18" wheels and DuPont paint. The Camaro is a 100 percent rust and collision-free Arizona body with all GM panels, smooth firewall, OE seats and interior, tubular front, everything on the car is new.

Sold for $75,000

Easily in the "You can't build it for this price" category!

Went out on the 12th and stayed till the 18th arriving home last night. The auction just keeps getting bigger and better. About 1,400 cars and a couple of days worth of automobilia auctions to start out with. It's a car guys dream to walk around and see so many various types of automobiles. There was actually a old retired " Brinks " armored car in the sale which was a first for me. And remember when the charity cars come along that a lot of buyers could care less about a tax deduction but may have a connection to that charity. Maybe a family member or relative or even themselves. I have met a lot of genuinely nice bunch of car people in the few years that I have been lucky enough to attend the Barrett Jackson.

Glad you had a good time Paul and a lot people got to meet you too! As far as the charity cars go, sure, they may know someone or even have the condition themselves but a couple are ok but it seems its become a HUGE part of the auction, it why I thought a seperate day for just charity cars would be a great idea. IMO seeing someone drop $300K for the 1st 2015 Mustang or $650K for the 1st Z/28 isn't very interesting to me, really but its good that a needy charity does infact get the money though.
