Beaters

I have a 2001 GMC Sonoma as my beater. It stays outside 24/7. When I bought it, it had not been waxed in ages. I use it as a testbed for new products and within the first weekend I had the car fully detailed. However, it is nice to know that I will occasionally take it through a car wash without fear of damaging my work. It is a truck after all and I use it regularly as such.

I made this thread toward the tail end of 2013 and after months of on and off search for a beater.... I think I finally found one!
1991 Toyota 4runner SR5 with 60k for $500! :dblthumb2:
Will be going this Thursday to take a look at it but by the pictures I have received, the truck is in amazing shape for its age. Only negative is that it has been sitting and not been started for 2years. All comments and advices are welcomed. :xyxthumbs:

these are pretty reliable, any parts you need you can get from rockauto. by far the best prices anywhere.
Will it start/run?
In my experience, "It only needs a $20 part and it'll run fine" is the biggest lie on Craigslist. If that were true; why not slap the $20 part in and sell it for $2500?
If it does start and run (And it probably doesn't if it's been sitting); then I would definitely change all fluids! (Coolant, oil, brakes, power steering, etc.)
Otherwise; looks good! Hope it works out; keep us posted!

Presently as it is, it will not start.
Probably the battery is dead and gas is bad. Will be taking a battery jumper and some 94 octane fuel with me to see if she will crank and start. The owner is actually a co-worker of mine and it was purely on coincidence, this situation came about. We were talking about home improvement ideas and she mentioned that her driveway needs to be re-paved and there was a dead truck on it. I asked about it and she wanted me to take it off her hands. According to my co-worker, the truck ran perfectly before allowing it to sit. Will know more when I see it on Thursday.... crossing my fingers! :xyxthumbs:
