What is opti- coat?
Very similar to Opti-Seal.
Just do one panel at a time and give it a good buff once it stats to flash so that you don't end up with any blotchy areas. I think I only had to wait about 30 seconds before buffing it with a towel but it may very with your climate. Take your time and really think out a plan of attack before you start going at it....for instance, when applying wax you can pretty much start and end where you want. I normally start on the hood and go around the car and I'll apply wax to half the roof and I'll do the other half when I get over to the other side. With Opti-Coat you would want to do the whole roof before moving on to other panels to avoid the risk of clouding, which I'm told can happen if you go back over an area that has already cured (approximately 30 min I believe).
Matt can probably give you some tips too as well as David Fermani as he has used it on several cars now.
Let me know what you think of it too...I'm about to order up some more for the wife's car.![]()
It is a long lasting coating made by Optimum that is not available to the general public.
OK, then if not available then how does one acquire this magical product? :hungry:
Are you saying to do the whole roof then buff off?
Yep. 3-4 averaged sized cars....2-3 if you keep dropping the applicator like I did!![]()
I'm impressed with this stuff as well and plan to add it to my list of services. I'm just not sure how to offer it. 2 year warranty? 3?
It's an expensive up sell and I would rather not have customers coming back wanting re-applications 18 months after I apply it (for free).
Do you give a 2 or 3 month warranty on sealants now? How do you handle that? What if the customer washes the bugs with a Brillo pad or the whole car with Top Job (do they even still make that??)?
It this going to be sold by new car dealer as paint protection package - "never have to wax again" for a low low price of $1995? "It will only add few dollars to your payment"! "You really need this to protect the finish of your $40K car!" "Warranted as long as you own your car" "Just bring it in every year for inspection for a low low price of $395 to keep the warranty active".
Anything else that I missed?

............You have to agree that Opti-coat does sound more like typical bogus dealer protection package ............
