Before & After - 1961 Plymouth Fury Barn Find

Awesome Mike! Thanks for sharing your method of using waterless wash combined with iron-x to rinse the surface.
Was thinking about this for people that do Rinseless washes and still want to chemically decontaminate the paint.

Beautiful work Mike! That came out great! Really liking the 50/50 IronX shot on the hood.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mike.

I tried taking before and after pictures of the dirt staining in the paint but the before and after difference didn't show up in the shots.

Remember - The manufacturer does not recommend this or suggest it as an option. This was a Mike Phillips use of the product and the only reason I used it this way was because,

A: As a best practice and a professional courtesy to owners of classic cars and muscle cars I don't get them wet with running water due to rust issues down the road.

B: The brakes are not working in this Barn Find (yet) and so it makes moving the car around cumbersome.

Even if the brakes were working I still wouldn't run a hose over it but that's just me.

The trick to how I used Iron X on this project was really simple though...

1. Lots of clean, dry microfiber towels.

2. Lots of Waterless Wash to liquefy and wipe the residues off.
With a Rinseless wash it would be easier, faster and safer.

And of course with a car that has a basecoat/clearcoat finish instead of an antique single stage finish it would also be a LOT safer.

:)

That thing is a beauty!

Great work :D

Thank you and I agree.

That's a beauty

She's kind of ugly and kind of beautiful at the same time. Definitely a segment of styling that is a part of automotive history that we can always look back on and admire if if some may not care for the body styles of this era.

NOTE

Jim will be by tomorrow to pick up the car. At that time I'll get the picture of the car with the Christmas Bow.

Beautiful work, as always Mike!

I still remember when I was growing up, my mom was rocking a 64 Plymouth Sport Fury!

***FIRST POST***** Long time lurker, though. :xyxthumbs:

I always love seeing your "before & afters", Mike. But as "barn finds" go, this one came out of the barn fairly fresh looking. :)
