Sorry.... I know this has probably been asked a 1000 times but.... I am doing my black car this weekend. the finish is good now but I'm putting Souveran Paste on it. I have both Meguires #7 and #9 (or can go out and get something else, such as XMT). Would it be worthwhile to use something prior to the wax? If so suggestions would be great.

thank you all....

maybe a couple of minor..... very minor. I'm wondering how much the Souveran would take out.

If you have a PC I'd recommend polishing the swirls out with the XMT prior to applying the Souveran. If you do not have a PC and want to hide the swirls, then I would recommend applying the XMT carnauba finishing glaze first and then the Souveran last. :)

Jen is right, only thing I would add is if you are not going to do any of this prep at least use a Paintwork Cleansing Lotion or a PreWax Cleaner.

XMT would be a good choice, or poorboys, I like the way both of them work, xmt is a little easier. XMT 2 and a light to medium cutting pad is a combo I use regularly and usually doesn't need any finishing, but to ensure a perfect finish hit it with some xmt 1 or xmt fg or both. If I not mistaken #7 is a glaze, it would look good under some souveran. Post some pics.

I will post some before/after. If I'm not mistaken, XMT or Poorboy's..... are only avail via the web. I may have to wait for the XMT to arrive.

If your finish is perfect just add RMG before your Souveran!

I agree with Excess Detail. I have in the past used Megs#9, Megs cutting pad and PC, then #7 by hand and Butter wax by hand. Work great. I used for the first time today XMT 3 and Souveran, man I was so impressed with these products. Souveran, it can't get any better then that!

most carnaubas like Souveran have some very light filling ability. I dont think you will find any additional gloss using a glaze however. The combo of choice these days seems to be XMT1/Souveran or RMG/Souveran.
