Hi Everyone!

I was hoping that someone would look over the list I’ve put together for my initial supply purchase. I currently have no supplies and have never really cleaned my own car before.

I have a White 3 Series with Carbon Fiber interior trim and tinted windows, I just got her professionally detailed a month ago.

I’m going to start by doing everything by hand, and in the future move on to a porter cable once I get more comfortable with the whole process.

I’m not sure about the amount of microfiber towels I need to get.

Lastly, can someone recommend a good leather cleaner that does not add shine? I don’t really like the shiny leather look.

Thanks for taking the time!

I will only comment on this portion.....
Exterior:
Optimum Car Wash Good choice from what I hear.
Foam Gun for a beginner...not really needed
Grit Guard (x3) Really only need two, one for the wash bucket and for the rinse bucket
Bucket (x3) same here
Adam's Quick Detailer (also as clay lube) You can find better something in a concentrate that you can use as QD/Clay Lube and Waterless Wash
Uber Yellow Poly Clay - 240 grams - 8 oz If you just had it detailed....I don't see a need for this at this point.
Stoner Invisible Glass
Optimum Car Wax (chose over sealant as I will by applying by hand and probably more frequently) I would recoment a spray sealant like Blackfire Crystal Seal, then use this over that....excellent look and very easy to use.

*plunks down my two cents*

hello crash and welcome to AG!!!

so far you got a great start

i agree with 07gtcs on the quick detailer

getting a concentrate like optimum no rinse or ultima waterless wash, garry dean infinte use detail juice are better alternatives then getting a dedicate quick detal spray

Having a sealant is also a better base of protection to which you can top with a wax

As far as leather cleaners ive only had experience with wolf gang leather clean and conditioner which have a nice satin finish

@07gtcs the 3rd bucket i believe is for his rims/tires

Make sure your credit card had a huge limit! You will never be done ordering stuff lol.

I would add some sort of APC like OPC and an interior sealant/ protectant like ultima interior guard or Wolfgang cockpit sealant.

Thanks for all of the replies!

The 3rd bucket was for the wheels/tires.

Let me try to understand. The no rinse or waterless wash would replace the QD? Or would it replaced the Wax? I think it was mentioned that it also contains a wax so is it redundant to use both?

As far as the sealant. I was a bit worried to apply it after a wash due to the frequency of washing as well as not using a porter cable to polish before applying the sealant.

Also for not needing certain items. I though I would add them on as I feel I will need them sooner or later.

I will look into Blackfire Crystal Seal

I'm not sure what APC or OPC are. Can someone please let me know what those acronyms mean?

Year end bonus is going to be used up here :)

APC = all purpose cleaner
OPC= optimum power clean

I did some research on a concentrate vs QD and it makes a lot of sense to go that route as there are more uses to it.

Last few questions:

How often is too often to apply a sealant? If I were to wash the car once a month or once every 2 months is that to often?

Can someone recommend a good APC?

Lastly, how many microfiber towels? Seems like you can never have too many.

Optimum APC has worked for me and friends as well.

You can never have enough MF towels!

The green cobra waffles to dry are awesome! Worth getting 3-4 med sized ones.

Here is my new to me GS. I bought it two weeks ago, to cold to do full detail so I brought in the garage, rinseless washed it, two coats of Blackfire Crystal seal and then a coat of Mequires Quick Wax. This should hold me till spring.
