Best 3" Pads for my 3" GG DA ?

Thank you for the heads up too about the Optimum 3" MF Pads.

Do these conform well to little dips, valleys, and rounded curves, etc?

I notice that besides the 3" Red and Orange Pads that Griots carries, they also show a Black Finishing Pad, as well as a White Metal Polishing Pad, and the Glass Polishing Pads in 3". (on their website, not at AG-Autopia)

Just got my little Griots Polisher yesterday, but not a 3" Pad in my arsenal yet.

At least from pics I have seen, the LC 3" Low profile Pads (Hydrotech?) appear to be just a smaller version of their 4" pad, and like the 4" Pad, it appears they do not have radiused-rounded edges, whereas the Griots Garage Pads do?

Can someone comment whether there's any advantage-disadvantage of Griots versus LC 3"? Which you like better, and why?

Wishing in the future, AG will carry a better selection of Pads for the 3" Griots.
Thanks, Mark

I might have to finally buy some of those optimum pads. Truthfully, I have burned up a 3" LC pad (the full size - not HT), once before on my 7424xp and thought to myself that maybe a microfiber pad would've been a better route.

Here's a comparison of the low profile hydro tech. Griot's 3" on left, low profile 3" HT in middle, standard 3" HT on right.

The full size 3" Hydrotech pads are pretty bad. I love these 4" self centering pads from Chemical Guys. They use a 3" backing plate:

They spin well, they are low profile. I wish more pads came this way.
i actually bought the sampler from CG hex logic and i completely hate them (not the 3 inch) i believe there the 6 inch pads for rotary or DA

Thank you Rwright for the comparo between these 3" pads.

Appears I did guess correctly about the Griots having radiused edges, and the HT don't.

They look identical in color, would you say they are actually identical in foam material-agressiveness, meaning can one expect the same results from either? Thanks, Mark

I just used my 3" GG to wet sand a freshly painted fender. It rocks! Does it get warm? Sure a little. But it is so much lighter than the pc7424 and a 3" sanding disc works so much better on curved and tight areas!

I have the Optimum MF cutting pad. I saw that the "foam backing is stiffer and thicker than the polishing pad to offer greater heat resistance". Is there a difference in the pad surface? Can I use the MF cutting pad for a final polish? I do small areas, so I'm not worried about heat.

The 3" low profile hyrdo tech pads are even better. They measure 3" x 7/8" and are nearly the same size as the Griot's 3" pads.

We could start carrying those pads, it's just a phone call. I think we were worried people would use them with rotary buffers and in experienced hands they work but if you're not careful you could get into trouble with a small thin foam pad on a rotary buffer because the foam compresses and twists in and before you know it the edge of your backing plate is close to paint.

But yeah, we could get them as an option for our forum members.

If you like MF pads then there's the Meguiar's and the Lake Country 3" MF pads and this rotate as good or better on the 3" GG Polisher.

I understand what you're saying about rotary use Mike. I also agree that the Meguiar's 3'' microfiber pads are fantastic. I used them again last weekend and it reminded me how well they work.

I use the Optimum mf pads on my 3" GG DA with great results.

Really? They tend to bog my machine down. I used the Meg's 3" pads last weekend and it surprised me by the difference in performance.

Heck yes Mike get some of those low profile Hydro 3 inch in!!!

and let me know when they are available:xyxthumbs:
