Hey guys! I'm looking to purchase a new durable wax. I have been using the chemical guys butter wet wax for a while now but it doesn't seem to last more than a month. Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Wax is for tinkering around with show cars. If you want low cost and durability, get a sealant like Opti-seal.

wow. $25 and does ~40 vehicles with a 8oz bottle? Sounds a little too good to be true, especially if you have an SUV :P

How long does opti-seal last generally before needing to re-apply?

OPT car wax and opti seal are great in spray form.

FK1000p and FK2685, Poorboys natty waxes and Collinite 845 are all cheap and great waxes in hard and liquid form.

Even though he asked "what wax", I feel inclined to say the exact same thing. The days of waxing a daily driver are long past, I think. Show cars are obviously a different story. I waxed my pop's '76 Imperial 1 year ago, but it's been outside twice since.

Reload or WetCoat are also good spray sealants that surpass wax in nearly every category.

I like #845 but IMO Collinite 476 is more durable. Just beware on dark vehicles many waxes and sealants will attract dust. With all the new products out there today, I really have moved away from them in favor of nano coatings. Ease of use is stupid and the appearance is far superior IMO. Costs are in-line too. Just pick the right one for your vehicle based on use/care desired. I'm a huge fan of McKee's 37 on a daily driver and if customers want more durability I use CQuartz. I've moved all but my entry level detail to include a coating vs wax or sealant too.

Good luck and enjoy the experimenting!

On that note, I suggest 3M's Performance Finish. Super durable product that doesn't get mentioned often around here. It's also incredibly easy to remove which is a bonus.

I have just bought a black octavia vrs so hence the looking. Had a silver a4 wax was great but used dodo juice supernatural sealant and was really easy to use. Been really dry over here in the UK so I don't know how it's holding up. But wax is a deeper gloss and shine for dark cars sealant for bright colour cars

Most people use a lot more wax then they need. Ive done 20 coats with my 5oz synergy can and its not even half gone yet

Collinite, FK1000P and I've seen good durability with Sonax PNS of easy 6 months but is a little pricier.

With all the above apply thin and sparingly.
