Best Bang For Buck

Optimum car wash. I'd rank it in the top two best performing car shampoo's I've ever used and in the 32oz bottles its several dollars cheaper than most of it's competitors in packaging of the same size.

Meguiars M105/205 or all Meguiars for that matter in the US could be considered best bang for the buck, that would go for Mothers too as in the rest of the world they very pricy. Just like you guys find EU Menzerna/Scholls etc. more expensive, we find the American stuff pricy.

Meguiars D110 Hyper-Wash

•One gallon makes 640 gallons
of car wash solution (CWS).
-That’s equal to 11 5/8
55 gallon drums of CWS:
-Pretty fair amount for ~$26.00, IMO.

I agree with Bob. Hyper Wash has been a staple for a couple years!

Meguiars D101 All Purpose Cleaner Concentrate.

What dilution do you prefer? I use it at 4:1 and have been thinking about toning it down because of the harsh fumes. I wear a mask when I use it. Also, I have a feeling that at 4:1 it’s not worth it to mix it that strong when I can stretch the gallon further.

I just ordered a gallon of hyper wash. I can’t wait to try it out. Hopefully it will last a very long time. I’m sure it will at that dilution ratio. I was tired of going to the local store to get soap that wouldn’t last very long.

Why does it perform so well? Cleaning power, lubricity, etc?

Yes, and yes.

In all seriousness, it's the best overall product, IMO. I've had some that cleaned well, but the lubricity wasn't very good. I've tried others with good lubricity and decent cleaning, but they were hard to rinse off. The Optimum Car Wash, for me, is the best of all those other products in one bottle. Fantastic lubricity, excellent cleaning power, and it easily rinses away. The icing on the cake is a price that's $2~$4 less per same-sized bottle than some of it's competitors.

Do you know if it work ok in hard water? I have hard water it’s hard to find a soap that is slick with hard water. Maybe it’s just not possible?

According to the charts I've seen, my area has water on the medium/upper end of the scale, but not the worst (i.e. 3 out of 4 on the ranking scale) compared to some areas of the country. Optimum has worked great for me and I get great, long lasting suds too.

Thanks for the info. I’m not sure what my levels are but I know it’s on the hard side. Sometimes I’ll add D101 to my wash bucket to “soften” the water and it makes the solution I have in it slicker than without D101.

I only ever mix it @10:1. I’ve tried it @4:1 but didn’t really find any added benefits and instead found the fumes to be a bit too strong at that dilution. For me 10:1 is the sweet spot, never lets me down at anything I ask it to clean.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. I will definitely have to dilute it more and see what results I can get.

What’s the other one?

My other favorite is Poorboys Super Slick with Suds. It's every bit as slick as the Optimum, but doesn't clean quite as well, and take a little more effort to rinse away. It's still a great car shampoo in my book.

While not a good comparison, I found McKee's 37 Power Wash to be quite good as well, but it is a wash-and-wax type product and priced a bit above what I'd consider a "bang for buck" product.

FK1000p--An $18 tin will last a lifetime if you apply it properly!!!

Optimum No Rinse, and Meguiar's D101 have been HUGE assets.
