Best cities in FL to live?

Growing up we had a total of 23 family trips to Florida. My Dad would get sent down there on DoD stuff and he'd be able to take us since he'd be gone for sometimes 2-3 weeks during the summer each time.

I always loved either Ft. Walton Beach, the Gulf side, from say Clearwater and north, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs was always beautiful to visit. A little calmer than the other side. All nice though.

I can vouch for Naples/Ft. Myers/Marco Island on the SW Florida coast. I vacation there at least twice a year. The boating options are out of this world.

The housing prices are good, but you really need to assess your job prospects in any new city. What would happen if you lost your job in your new city? WOuld you be able to find a similar job? The job market can be rough in Florida. It was hit pretty hard by the recession.

I have lived in Daytona, Ocala, and Tampa Fl. And FL is all I know, and I loved it. Recently moved to WV and hate it... But will be back in FL soon.

What is your driver for moving to FL? Me and the wife will be moving back to Tampa or Orlando. If you want something nice and quite with lots of land go for OCala, FL cheaper land and even cheaper property taxes. If you have any questions send me a PM.

Thanks! - a lot of good information and points here so far. I like those those links too..esp. the one on the U.S. Census website. Good info. there as well.
I guess my main motivation for a possible move is I am burned out on NC and would like some place a little warmer. I find cold weather and winter time in general pretty depressing.
But yep, would have to find a job first. I currently work in IT doing pc/network support, so it's not like I'm giving up a high-paying job to do so. But obviously, would have to find another. I feel burned out on IT as well, but that's a different story. But, I figure I can at least do it in a nicer area/one that I enjoy....hah.
I might go visit again to test it out some more. But, if I do that, it would be nice to already have an interview lined up.
I think in the old days, you could just move and THEN find a job (that's what my grandfather did). But those days are OVER.
