best correction bang for buck

I am not a professional and am currently doing light correction on my cars and friends and family. I'm looking for a simple combo that I can use with my DA to get great results. I'm not looking for 100% correction, just something that will make a 5-7 year old car look better. I usually top with Jetseal or Wolfgang 3.0.

I was thinking HD speed with a white pad. What do you guys suggest?

Also, I typically use two 5.5 inch pads per car that I polish, is that enough?
 
Meguiars M205 applied with Meguiars Microfiber cutting disc on a Dual Action polisher ROCKS!
 
Bang for your buck would be (if staying with an AIO) Meguiar's D155. You get a whole gallon for cheaper than some polishes cost in 32 oz.

Yes you need more pads than two. Buy more and they'll cut better, finish better, and last a lot longer.

If you are always finishing with an LSP then I'd choose a polish like 205 or even Ultimate Compound. Both are great one step polishing products.

Now if I didn't care so much about the best bang for your buck then I'd go with HD Speed and HD Adapt to replace the Meguiar's products I mentioned.

Mind sharing what hit mean for bang for your buck?

Most quantity for price, best cut/finish for price, best protection for price, etc.
 
Menz cut gloss and wax with a micro pad and top it off with liquid souveran,or stick with your toppings as you mentioned.
 
There is no universal answer to what product and pad combo. You have to do a test spot and see the results then decide if you need to go more aggressive or less. More than 2 pads would be a good idea. And I wouldnt stick to just white. I would do 3-4 of Orange, White, Yellow, and a couple Red or Black.

Where in upstate ny do you live.
 
Best bang for my buck using a DA always seems to be M-105 on a soft no cut foam pad topped by a WOWA sealant. On real soft clear, HD Speed and done.
 
Well depending upon how soft the paint is why not consider CG's Blacklight?

I tossed all my Blacklight in the garbage a couple weeks ago. It's all show and no go, just my opinion. Zero longevity. It didn't take me long to figure out it was a glorified glaze with a bunch of nano speak.
 
Ultimate Compound is a great product and is VERY inexpensive and abundantly available OTC.... It did amazing on my hard Volkswagen paint

I can see that and I actually used it on my own car in the spring with a burgundy Megs polishing pad and my GG3", did the whole car since I have a Fiat 500 Abarth, LOL. My paint wasn't too bad but just starting to show "some" swirls, no doubt due to the winter. That said, I can see where your coming from though but their wheel cleaners are pretty good though.

I couldn't agree more, in fact I wonder many arrogant "I don't buy OTC products" people have missed out on this!

Yeah.

I have CG Celeste D on my GC right now and it's amazing wax. Pricey yes, but got it on a double dip sale. And CG Silk is till my favorite interior cleaner. Balcklight looks good until a couple good rains ;-)

They make some good products and then some just okay, I'm not a hater by any means I just pick and choose.
 
I have a couple of favorites for "one step" polishing. In no particular order.

1. Menzerna PF 2500 on a Blue Hex Logic, or Tangerine Lake Country Hydrotech pad.

2. Meguiar's Ultimate Polish on a blue Hex Logic.

3. Meguiar's M02 Fine-Cut Cleaner on a Blue Hex Logic

4. Meguiar's Ultimate Polish on a Yellow Rupes Microfiber disc.


I always take four cutting and polishing pads with me for most jobs.

Rarely do I use more than two per car, and it really depends on how much paint I'm pulling off into the pad. The Hydrotech pads don't clean up on the fly as easily as the blue hex logic foam, but they perform like a champ. Keep in mind that I run a pad brush over the foam after every, or every other section cycle.

During these types of jobs, I'm just trying to clean up the paint a bit.
