Hi, couldn't find the introductions forum so I figured here was as good a place to start as any. I just upgraded from a 2005 Toyota Tundra to a 2003 BMW X5 and was wondering what the best products were to take car of it. I was wondering if there is some sort of all inclusive best products list where somebody has listed all the products you need by brand and such so that you can by say 10 things essential to taking care of your car. Thanks and nice to meet you all

Can you make the text a little bigger its hard to read
Thanks

You can't read that Nuke. LOL, yeah, please enlarge the font.

Sorry about that, you guys are quick on your replies. thanks

Just read the forum and you'll find out what works best for you. Knowing the people in here, I dont think anyone would tell you something is the best. Check out works from Justin or Totoland Mach, and countless others, and look at the products they use.

Nice Car! I don't think there is such a thing as a best products list. What someone thinks is best is always their opinion. AG carries a lot of great products and brands. If your talking about taking care of your car's paint it's usually wash, clay, polish, seal & wax. There are a number of great products for each one of the steps. Which product is best a matter of opinion.

It would be hard to list the best 10 products, as we all have different opinions on various things.

I will do a quick run-down for you.

Exterior

Wash:

DG #901
DP's Xtreme Foam
WG/Pinnacle Auto Wash
NTS7 wash

I would recommend purchasing a Foam Gun. These things are amazing.

Be sure to get a quality washing device. The schMitts work great, so does any washing device AG has.

QD:

Pinnacle Crystal Mist
Pinnacle Liquid Soveran Spray Wax
PB's S&G
PB's QW+

Clay:

Pinnacle
WG
DP's
Meg's

Polishes: (remove swirls, scratches, etc.)
Pinnacle/XMT
PB's SSR or PB's Polish w/ Sealant
Optimum
Meg's #83/#82/#80
DP's

*Note you need a PC 7424 and corresponding pads to use the polishes listed above.

Next, I would recommend picking up a PC 7424 w/ Edge pads.

Glazes:

WG
DP's
Meg's
XMT

You should use a glaze after heavy polishing to restore oils and gloss to the paint.

Waxes: (Carnauba)

Pinnacle
WG
PB's
DP's
Meg's
Collinite

Sealants:

WG
PB's
DP's
Klasse
4*

Tires/Rims:

Tire & Wheel Cleaners

Interior

Leather:

Pinnacle
WG
Meg's
Conolly

Vinyl:

Pinnacle
WG
DP's
PB's
Meg's

Glass:

Meg's NXT

DP's

ETC:

Auto Detailing Supplies: quality detailing tools & towels

MF

Trim/Metal

Detail exterior trim & metal with Autogeek's large selection of polishes, dressings and tools! mothers, dp, wenol, meguiars, powerball, forever black,

I hope this helps. There's soo many options to go with in each and every category.

I would advise you to get a good wash, wash mitt, and wax. You can buy anything else you need, but I would recommend those 3 for the minimum.

You might want to invest in a nice 5 gallon bucket, and grit guard as well.

Take a tour of the website, and ask away with questions. We're here to help.

Its going to be hard to nail down 10 of the best things, as I know everyone has thier favorites.

I would get some nice shampoo (ppl seem to like the PB one pretty well) and than get one of the PC with polish and pad kits like the XMT kit. Than get a wax like a Natty Blue and you would be all set as far as chemicals.

than you have to look into clays, QD's, interior, Microfibers, and other applicators. Dont worry I have only been here about a week and I have already mentally spent about 500 bucks.

My favorite and I know others on this site will agree is DG aquawax for a QD+ spray. I also like DP 4in1 for its multiple uses and washing cars in the cold it is a great rinseless wash. Mike...

Welcome, and nice car you got

Listing is as said before almost impossible to do, but when you read some of the posts, you will see some products that is more talked about than others.

Feks:

ShMitt
Guzzler
DuraGloss AW
EDGE pads
these are some of the GREAT products that AG has, but its a jungle out there when it comes to detailing products, and i love the jungle life.....

Here is a BMW X3 i detailed some weeks ago, black as yours. what i used on that car is products i dont have any problems recommending to you and your car (depending on what state its in)

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/3630-detailed-black-bmw-x3.html

Also DuraGloss #101 is a great product (gloss+durability)

:goodpost:
There doesn't seem much justice to Wolfgang products, is it cost or????

And another thing, I don't find much treatment on the subject matter in regards to the flat black metal trim that most cars have around the door frames and sometimes the heavy duty attachment rails that are between the overhead luggage carrier and the car body. Just what makes this paint dull overtime like plastic but doesn't respond to wax/polish but sometimes to plane trim silicon keeps me puzzled .

The most important thing is "time"--this is not a hurry-up process if you
want to do it right. Take your time and do it right the first time, then it will be easier to maintain. Remember first, it's about the quality of the paint--get it right and the other 3,4,5..steps are a complement.
I have tried every wax knowm to manking, and for me(my preference) it's pinnacle and wolfgang, hands down. Buy yourself one of the introductory buffer(must have) kits with the pads and products.

Good Waxing,

Major Mike
