Best Glass Coating?

I’m sure PBL and Mckees are very similar, but PBL probably more concentrated and a marketed longevity of 18 months vs 12 months for McKee’s. I use the PBL and am very satisfied so far

A bottle probably allow you to do a lot of cars. For Gtechnique's product I believe you can do 10 cars per bottle. So that is only 4$ per car. Aquapel is about 5$ per applicator and you can only do the windshield with it. So 40$ per bottle is quite affordable.

I guess the down side to it us you have to do three coats then possibly go over it a fourth time with the applicator. I usually do two coats on my windshield with Opti-glass, really only one is needed.

We don't get a lot of rain where I live anyway. The Aquapel actually worked great for me. I got over a year, but it takes some pretty good effort in a short amount of time. I did end up with some residue at the bottom of the windshield.

I would say you could pretty easily get 20 cars out of Opti-glass. I'm surprised it doesn't mention the number of cars you can get out one bottle of the Opti-glass. You can probably get more than 20 with doing side glass. That makes it less than 4.00 per application. Buy it at 25% off and you're under 3.00 per application if you get more than 20.
 
I had been considering getting Opti-seal and just reapplying it to my window pretty regularly.

However; I recently aggressively polished my windshield to remove wiper scratches, using the carpro glass pads and ceriglass.

Immediately I noticed that none of my spray waxes would stick to my window. Three applications of d156 didn’t do anything, nor did any their non AG offerings in the same category.

The only thing I had on hand that did seem to stick was rain-x.

I emailed carpro about this and this was their response:

I did mention d156 in my email, so I’m not sure if that info applies to polymer based LSP products, which Opti-seal and d155 are.

I’ll say this though - it’s a very disappointing side effect of using ceriglass. Spray waxes were my go to on my windshield beforehand, because it’s just quick to apply them.

So I’m now unfortunately left wondering if something like Opti-seal would be a waste of money, and I should just get a dedicated coating (which is not appealing to me at all.)

I tried CarPros Forte a year or two ago.

I works well and lasted for a while but I could not see it going on at all.

I don’t know if it was the conditions I applied it in but no matter how much I put on the applicator I could not see it going on the windshield.

Kinda weird and frustrating not being able to see it.
 
I've tried just about every brand there is and for the price GTechniq G5 Water Repellent Coating is as good or better then any other. It really works and last a couple months in pretty rough NC Mountain weather. My first experience with it was on my personal truck going to the lake. It came a really hard rain and traffic was pulling over on the Interstate. I actually kept going and found it was even better with the wipers on a really low speed. The wipers just seemed to make my vision worse. After that GTechniq G5 Water Repellent Coating stays on all my vehicles. I've used Rain X, Glass Science, several coatings, and even the GTechniq G1 Smart Vision Coating (which was hard to apply), but GTechniq G5 Water Repellent Coating is my favorite for the price and number of applications you can get out of one bottle.

I've heard rainx windshield washer fluid clogs the washer nozzle no? Unless different car brands have different impact.

German cars dont recommend it. Clogs up the sensors and heating elements.
