Best MILDEST polish by hand ?

While I can't imagine doing an entire vehicle by hand i did a long time ago and still remember.

I also still hand polish around tight spots. The smallest i go with my machines is 2" pads. I can finesse those into pretty tight areas but i still need to finish some areas by hand and a mf applicator (e.g. rear plate light, some recessed panels etc.).

I sometimes change to a lighter polish for these areas and rub, rub, rub. My 2 favorites for that are Griots Perfecting Cream or Duragloss 501.

I did a 4 stage [clay, paint cleaner, polish, wax] using Meguiars Liquid Crystal steps by hand on my old 1992 Eldorado Touring Coupe back around 2007. It took me 4 days and I was exhausted by the time I got done.

I also did the same on my old 1997 Cadillac Seville in 2014 using Meguiars Clay, Ultimate Polish, Ultimate Compound then showed up at Meguiars headquarters in Irvine California where I met Mike Stoops for the 1st time. [Meguiars detailing classes] He came out and wanted to see what kind of job I was able to get done by hand. Back then I didn’t know the difference between the squirrel and a swirl, so he was nice with his critique. Lol.

But the important thing for me was the oxidation I was able to remove from the paint on that car that restored the shine on that Cadillac. Ultimate Compound by hand absolutely wowed me.

Here’s my original before/after photos from 2014. Done by hand.

I had to stop a couple times because my wrist got tired.#lol.

Hey Ric......... Know what's good for building up your wrists? Using a GAS powered snow blower!!:laughing:

But seriously, and to the OP: Think twice about polishing by hand.

If you need no paint correction, don't put yourself through the agony....... :D

Facts. That’s why it’s a shame that you try and choose the easy way out by using a snow blower that plugs into an outlet every night.lol.

Easy to say for the "Fair Weather Boyz" out there in LA-LA land.......

Lookin' good there, Ric!!

Can’t complain. Thank the man upstairs for allowing us another day.

The red (non metallic) paint has no visible swirls, just looking to assure a clean/clear surface prep ready for Wofgang Deep Gloss 3.0.

This really does sound like a good situation for a paint cleaner. Several on the market.

Ones I've used are Blackfire Paint Cleaner and Poorboy's World Polish. Both excellent. And if you wanted some "bite" just use a more aggressive pad.

Megs Ultimate should do the trick for you.

Almost any polish by hand will be mild. Mothers Ceramic 3 in one or any type of All in One product would work. Not need for a dedicated polish if working by hand.

Seems I tried it, and it was very difficult to remove by hand.

That’s very surprising to hear.

IME Ultimate Compound has always been easy to remove… It’s Ultimate Polish that’s a PITA to remove.

Edit: I just realized he simply said “Ultimate” so you could very well be referring to Ultimate Polish… If so, then yea, Ultimate Polish is a extraordinary uncooperative to remove. I’ve never understood why they made it like that.
