Best option for sun faded seat belt latches? These are bad

It wouldn't work on the red part.

Yeah I was just referring to the black part. I have no idea how to restore that pink plastic. You guys saying dlux would work on the pink plastic as well?

All this talk frequently about DLux means it will be in my next AG order. I hear it so frequently from many different users i HAVE to try it. In the meantime, my new favorite for exterior black or grey faded trim pieces is Black Wow Pro. I would love to hit these seat belt buckles with 2, maybe 3 coats. 2 coats on exterior trim pieces last a long time. I would guess it would really last inside on these seat belt pieces. A very thorough cleaning before application is key.

I have no suggestion for turning pink back to red but would want to see BWP on that part too.

I thought Black Wow was for all colors, not just black. I swear I saw a thread of someone using it on red plastic trim. Turtle Wax has a black tint to it, so that won't work on non black plastic.

YouTube!....Two little clips hold the bench portion of the seat in

Plan tomorrow is to pull the seat, scrub with Magic Eraser and coat with Solution Finish

The buttons will get another coat of Meguiar's Natural Look.....and stay pink

All of this is just for my experimentation, as the Customer was very happy with the final result

We shall see

I really think you should try a heat gun on that red plastic. I've used that as a last resort on some black plastics that I thought were too far gone and it brought them back to life. Worth a shot anyways.

Found a solution that met my expectation and far exceeded the Customers

Optimum Power Clean APC (10:1)

Magic Eraser

By the way, the bench portion of the backseat of most Mustangs is really easy to remove

There are two tabs under the front edge of the seat. Push the tab in and the seat pops up

Thank you Allen, great follow up and info shared....I have more on my must have product list....Jeff

Nice work again. I'm sure after a really good cleaning, any trim restorer would give you some decent results.

It wouldn't work on the red part.

It will on some plastics, like it did for the OP, not perfect, but better. Trim restorers aren't meant for just black plastic, unless their some sort of die. They do yield better results on black, probably because the color change is more significant on black.

The buckles were thoroughly cleaned and treated with Meguiar's Natural Look Protectant, but I wasn't happy with the look

I believe Solution Finish is unique, because it contains very fine milled carbon in a solvent carrier that allows it to penetrate the plastic

It darkens better than other less permanent trim dressing and better than CarPro DLUX on faded trim

Getting more aggressive, by utilizing the Magic Eraser was also helpful

Dye :p

Nice, and it seems to be cheaper than Dlux as well. Have you used it on the exterior trim as well? Hows it hold up against that sun?

I have recently applied it to some exterior trim on a couple of vehicles. No info on longevity yet.

Manufacturer claims 4 months for initial application

At the end of the 4 months, the reapplication is supposed to last 5-6 months

Solution Finish is supposed to be launching a top coat that they described as "bulletproof" in a recent podcast

SF does not cover as much trim per mL as DLUX in my opinion

I have not tried DLUX on top of SF yet

The trim pictured in the 'before" shot, is that before cleaning it?

Dlux requires no contact with water for the first 24 hours after application, other wise spots will for if not wiped off. My wife's car sites outside and that's why I haven't used Dlux on it yet. I checked the directions on AG for SF, it doesn't mention anything like this. Does the bottle itself mention anything like that?

If it doesn't spread as far as Dlux, should I waste my time on 1oz? Or go for 12oz?

The Before shot is prior to cleaning with a Magic Eraser and APC (10:1)

There are no instructions on the 1oz bottle

1oz is plenty for multiple cars. Unless you are Detailing lots of cars, I suggest starting with the smaller size.

These are the applicators I favor:

Compared to the cotton rounds they:

- Hold up better

- Allow me to get a better edge

- Better for smoothing product out on non-textured trim

I don't, especially now when it was 14* when I woke up.

Thanks!

I would clean with IPA and a small brush. Then use Black Wow which will restore to original.

Thanks for the advice

Are you not satisfied with the After pictures I posted?

Why IPA instead of APC?

Black Wow has quite a few bad reviews on the Forum. Are you using the Pro version?
