Best pad for PO85RD??

Cool! :xyxthumbs:

If you can get a DA Polisher you can use it with your Trizact discs.

This article is on dampsanding using Meguiar's Unigrit Discs but all the information would work well with the 3M Trizact discs.

Some guys sand dry, I prefer wet otherwise you need to wear a dust mask so you don't breathe in paint particulates.

Here's everything I have on sanding at this time, first article is on dampsanding. Get a cup of coffee or a cold drink as it's pretty long and thorough article. Also check out the hand sanding article below it a ways.

#1500 is a good normal safe starting point. Some people start at #800 or #1000, kind of depends upon how much material you sprayed, lower grits are going to remove a lot of material fast.

Nikken Finishing Papers have 100% fill over the entire sheet of paper, as well as Unigrit particle size, point is these papers cut faster and more evenly than most automotive grade papers and this allows you to move up one grit level to get the same efficiency while leaving easier to remove sanding marks.

i will be doing it by hand! im going to start off with 1000 since i over mixed the clear when i was spraying it and ended up putting 4 coats of clear! im going to start off with 1000 and work my way up! thanks alot mike!

I'm with Cee Dog on this one. I've used 85 w/ LC gray & HT crimson..and it all depends. On my RAV4 I noticed that the LC gray actually put swirls in the paint. I went over the area w/ HT crimson and swirls all gone. I tend to use the HT crimson, but always have a gray LC around.

will it work if you go right from 105 to 85rd?

Don't know about that one, but I can tell you I've gone from UC to 85rd. That's not my preference as I'd normally go from UC to 105 to 85rd, but I've gone from UC to 85rd with no issues.

I just tried 85rd with orange HT pad on pc and 205 finished better with orange HT.
85rd with grey flat after 205 w/orange HT and the finish is awesome.

someone told me to try 85rd first than use 205 w/polishing pad.......not for me, but I was willing to try

good luck
