whats the best sealant for a low volume, weekend warrior detailer? I want something that's cheap enough and efficient enough to keep my margin decent, but good enough to impress my clients? recommendations? Hopefully something that doesn't require a pre-cleaner/polish before?

As a little sealant goes a long way and is your LSP, I'd use Menz PL or BFWD.

That's easy! Use what's available locally.

Get Meguiar's compounds and polishes, then get Meguiar's M21 2.0 for a pure sealant. You can also use Ultimate Liquid Wax (which is a sealant). And for that super special 'extra' option you can ALSO use M26 yellow wax, which is a hybrid sealant. You can top ULW or M21 with M26 btw for an INCREDIBLE SHINE, DEPTH, COLOR RENDITION, AND POP!!!!:dblthumb2: Meguiar's M26 has both polymer sealant properties, but it also has carnauba in it, which means it's not as durable as a dedicated 'sealant'. But... it's been known for must be going on 20 years as a simply beautiful final LSP, and it plays well with a lot of other LSP's when you're using it as a 'topper'. ;)

You should be using 1oz or less of sealant on an average size car. With that in mind, the cost difference from the low to high end is a couple dollars per application. That's one thing that bugs me about places that want to charge an extra $75 for sealant, they want more money for something that's easier to apply.

Use what you like best.

If I understand you question right, you want to to be able to apply the sealant after washing, no prep or polishing, Right?

Something like Optimum Opti-Seal is a WOWA. Menzerna PL is great too, but requires a wipe down after application (like 95% of sealants).

It depends on the client, i wont apply a sealant without at least a clay or light polish unless the finish is really clean, just trying to reduce the steps so an exterior detail doesnt take forever

BFWD gets my vote, easy and quick to use but provides an awesome finish, definitely if you polish first. A little also goes a long way.

Even though, IMO, polishing/smoothing will bring
out the most ooh-ing and ahh-ing from the clients...

Yet if you want:
"something that's cheap enough and efficient enough
to keep my margin decent, but good enough to impress
my clients"
...Then (also IMO):

You need to google something like:
Bulk Synthetic Spray Waxes;
Or:
Locate a jobber truck that services some
of your local Detail/Body Shops.

DG105, has cleaners, and last a long time when mixed with 601

Yep, Megs 156 (and DG AquaWax) are da' bomb. I also agree that anything DG is terribly underrated in boutique detailing crowds.

Well i went with blackfire, the reviews were too good , i hope its as good as everyone says!

cheap enough. efficient.
You can get a lot of time saving applications from OptiSeal.
Also, a tin of FK1KP will last almost forever.
