Best Product for Winter Care

ok, so the Wolfgang PPFPP just removes products that are on the car; wax, polish, sealants..., not contanaments that claying will remove. Thanks

It's a paint friendly solvent to remove surface oils and other surface contaminants that are NOT bonded to the paint.

Think about what a good detergent dish washing soap would do and that's what this product will do only without having to drag out a hose and bucket plus you never know what the dish washing detergent might be leaving behind, (soap film).

I would NOT count on this product removing waxes and sealants BECAUSE there are so many good waxes and sealants on the market today that actually do form a strong bond to the paint.

This is about being precise. You want and need a clean surface before applying ANY paint coating.

If you don't do coatings (don't think I'm there yet) what about PNS?

SONAX Polymer Net Shield is a very good product.

Half of what I post on this forum is simply remembering what I've already posted to this forum. For example.... posted on 3/3/2014

Forrest shared something very interesting. In post #29 I asked a question and in post #33 Forrest shared the answer.

:D

Two excellent non coating alternatives that have as good if not better self cleaning and sheeting ability are Sonax PNS and Finish Kare 1000p sealants.

Have used both and I actually prefer them over a coating for my own car.

There's a chair for every person to paraphrase and old saying...

I use a one-step cleaner/wax on my truck but a coating on the wife's Mercedes-Benz and I love how the paint on her car stays cleaner longer, shinier longer and washes AND dries incredibly quick and easy.

So there's is something about coatings that make them cooler than waxes and sealants but a person simply won't know till they use one and then compare it to what they are used to.

I don't prefer something that supposedly lasts years.

Thing about coatings is they can last for a year or longer but it all comes down to as I always say in the forum world,

How the paint is touched

And by the word touched I mean ANYTHING that touches the paint.

  • Automatic car wash versus hand car wash
  • Type of automatic car wash - Brushes, soft mops or touchless
  • Wash Mitt
  • Drying Towels or Chamois
  • Technique for how the wash mitt or drying towels is moved over the paint.
  • Microfiber towels
  • Technique for inspecting and then moving microfiber towels over the paint

Etc.

How the finish on any car looks and how long the protection lasts after the wipe-off of a wax, sealant or coating always comes down to how the paint is touched.

:)

Just to note...

A few weeks ago Todd Helme, Alberto Quiroscabrera and myself put the new RUPES Mark II polishers to the test on this 1951 Mercury.

Then the next day I coated the paint using Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Paint Coating.

You can read about it here,

Review & How-To: Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Paint Coating

This last Tuesday at the local Tuesday Night Lew's Crew Cruise in I ran into Larry the owner of the 1951 Mercury for the first time since working on his car.

Since we coated it he has taken and displayed his car at two cars shows and he's WON two first place trophies.

I'm working on getting pictures of the trophies by the car and after I get them I'll post them to the forum.

Cool.
