Best product to clean tyres

I love mother's tire and wheel cleaner. It's readily available in the US, cheap and works very well. TBH, I only use it on tires though, not wheels.

Recently I bought Meg's D143 and have been using it at 3:1 on my tires and wheels. It does just as good, maybe better. I like using a stiff bristle brush for agitation.

I also use D143 on wheels and tires and am quite happy with it. It's good to know that it works art 3:1 as well. I've been using it 2:1 and it does a good job, but I've been going through my gallon quite quickly. I'll try 3:1 next.

Meg. Super Degreaser works well on wheel wells and tires. I can't remember using it on already dressed tires but I imagine it would work well.

I'm growing very fond of it myself. It's not Sonax, but a car doesn't needs something that tough when it gets washed weekly like mine.

I've been feeling the same way. I'd like to try sonax sometime, all I have is wheel brightener I keep with some gloves, a respirator, and safety glasses. Like you said though, something that aggressive is really only necessary once if you keep up with your washes. D143 really grew on me, it foams up nicely, has good cleaning capabilities, and is just overall pleasant to use.

Lol!!!

Since I maintain my car weekly, and have WETS on my tires which lasts months, I use Megs D143 when I do decide to do a big cleaning on the tires and wheels. I've been using that product for years and have always been happy with the results.

Lately I have been on this kick where I will do a deep cleaning with the Megs D143, and then to just make sure the Tire is Perfectly clean before I apply Wets, I will do a final wipe down with Mckee's Tire and Rubber Rejuvenator.

Do you bother cleaning the tires at all during your weekly washes? How do you avoid disturbing the dressing on the tire?

Derass, I wash the tires and rims weekly. But I don't need to apply much pressure at all. Any dirt, dust or grime that has got on the tires and rims will wash wash off pretty easily because of the Sealant I have on it.

I use WOLFGANG Auto Bathe to wash my car and wheels and tires, because it is made to not remove any of the Sealants on the car. So I have no fear of washing away the Sealant. All dirt washes off Very easily!

Do you use a wash mitt on the wheels & tires? Or what do you use? Any pictures of your vehicle? Or at least the wheels?

On my coated tires I just spray them with Mckee's N-914 and rinse them off.

I would get some Optimum Power Clean aka Alien Kleen. If that "stuff" is that greasy I would cut it 1:1. This product, in most cases, works well cut 3:1 (3 parts water, 1 part product) Its the one product I've always bought since joining AG over 5 years ago and not venturing away from it, it has so many uses and I actually use it around the house as much as I do on my car. I actually spray up into my wheelwells, let it sit and rinse off and they generally come out great, even with no agitation but then again I really stay ontop of my car too.

Good luck to you and BTW, spell those things that go around the wheels anyway you want:xyxthumbs:

I like the Mike Phillips "wheels-first" method. I spray Sonax Full Effect and let it dwell while setting up a bucket with CG Citrus Wash & Gloss with all my brushes. Nothing special for the tires. They come clean every time after agitating with a brush and normal bucket soap.

One thing I do that's maybe unique is that I use 303 Aerospace Protectant in place of a traditional tire dressing. I find it leaves the tire extremely clean looking and not glossy, just world-beating UV protection and a super crisp look. That's a preference, though. Sometimes I'll use GG dressing for gloss.

Mothers Wheel and Tire Cleaner is a foamy spray that removes the brown stuff from tires and any previous dressing. Shirts from former employers make perfect rags for wiping the tires clean.
