I have a Gilmour foam gun coming any day and I intended to use my CGs "Clear" shampoo, which is said to be very good in cannons and foam guns. I also have read that DP makes a special shampoo just for this purpose and is highly regarded (I think it is called Extreme Foam).

A favorite two bucket traditional wash I use is DG 901 but I have run out of it. Has anyone used the 901 in a foam gun? How does it compare to those which are made for high suds such as the DP and CG? Any other foam gun soap suggestions?

Out of the 3 your mentioned. DP Extreme Foam foams the most, but all 3 soaps work great. Foam is not everything. How the soap breaks down the dirt for easy removal is more important.

Using DP's Xtreme Foam Formula here also.
Just may get to use it tomorrow what with the warmer weather approaching. :xyxthumbs:

I only compared them once in a Gilmore last summer, 901 and meg's gold class, meg's foamed more than 901 in my trial but I only did a comparison once. I used 901 in the bucket with a cap of ONR, Megs GC in foam gun after than, planning on testing again this spring summer....they sell specific "foamy" soap for guns, especially chemical guys stuff, max suds etc, if you really want foam.

Yea, I figured the more foam the better since all the ones I mentioned, as well as those suggested, are quality shampoos and all should do a good job of cleaning. I saw some videos on youtube of this gun in action and also a few of a cannon with power washer. Of course there is no comparison between the two as to the amount of foam - the cannon wins hands down. But for my needs a foam gun is enough because my garage queen never gets real dirty. Because all the videos I saw showed a sort of "runny" foam out of this gun, I thought I would go for the shampoo that created the max suds. I'll try my CGs "Clear" first and then go from there.

When I use foam gun or foam cannon, I put in either maxi-studs II or Meg shamp+ with a little Zep citrus. In the wash bucket, I use only DG901 or CG citrus wash/gloss.

I use Optimum Car Wash in my Gilmore foam gun, it foams more the the DP I used before it.

CG Honey Dew and Optimum Car Wash both work well in my foam gun.
