So in all your opinions which is the best route to take for those cheap customers who you want to help as much as possible, but they just don't want to pay for quality?

Which is the quickest wax system you all use for a mini detail I guess you could say?

Wash, clay, then... ?

Ok.
I did consider spray wax as an option for the customers that don't want to go over the $100 mark.

Which spray waxes work the best for wash, clay, spray wax?

there are many excellent options to choose from, here are a few... duragloss aquawax, megs synthetic spray wax (detailer line) or the UQW (consumer), optimum spray wax, and the list goes on...

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can do a liquid wax with a 4 or 5 inch pad on a polisher in about the same time as a spray wax job. Less time to spread, no overspray to chase and quicker to buff off. My choice for cheap, effective and long lasting would be DG105 or 501. Also, exchange the clay for a Nanoskin pad. Initial cost is higher, but it's faster and cheaper in the long run.
Plus, for those who don't wash their car as often as we do, DG products seem to more dirt-shedding than most other waxes.

If they're that cheap...I wouldn't even bother to clay!

I give the customer an option for what they want and charge accordingly. If they just want a wash, then that's all I charge for, if just a wash and wax, then I charge for that, if they just want wash/clay/wax then again, charge for that. And it goes on...

Not everyone is going to be convinced to do a full paint correction - or even a full polish and wax - so you need to have options. Customers usually come with their mind pretty made up on what they want/want to spend and its my job to see if I can explain to the them the benefits of bumping it up a notch.

In the end, just charge for what you're doing for them, whatever that may be.

Rinseless wash and clay at the same time... Then.. Spray wax!!
Garry Dean has a video out on this exact subject... He used his IUDJ and juice boost in the same bucket! He would wash, clay and dry! Washed, clayed and protected and done very efficiently!

Are you doing just exterior details? I only do exterior details and this is what I use

ONR rinseless wash - 1oz per 2 gallons
Two bucket system with a soft all purpose sponge from Home Depot -- a sponge releases the dirt better in my opinion
clean wheels and wheel wells with diluted all purpose
Clean the bugs off the front with wash and wash mixed with warm water in a spray bottle, then rinse with ONR
Touch up with Mequiars Last Touch detail spray - no wax
Dress tires
I don't clay and the customer has never asked for it -- it takes up too much time for the low price I charge

The cars turn out great for very little product cost and I can finish an exterior detail in about an hour. Here is a Corolla I cleaned at the Post Office and took about an hour with no wax, only detail spray

I would skip on claying. If they're cheap whats the benefit, they want a clean car so tailor your services to your clientele.

Wash as you will, clay only if necessary (overspray, rough paint etc.), Chemical Guys Hybrid V7. Cheap customers generally won't appreciate what a clay will do, and you risk marring the paint that will require polishing or some explaining.

Just how I deal with anyway. ALWAYS do a good job, but remember to stay profitable and give the customer what they want, not what you know they need

ONR Wash
Optimum car wax
Opti bond on tires

Only clay if they are paying.

:iagree: I only clay if I will be finishing with something like PRC that has a bit of correction to it, so it will clear up the marring

$100 does not get your car clayed

For $100....ONRWW...done

Wash, Clay mitt, DG501/601 combo. Cheap, fast, can be applied in direct sunlight, flash cures, easy on and off, 5-6 months protection.

If you are seeking to give only just 'Wash and Wax', the following is a suggestion:

1. Wash - Any method that suits you
2. Clay with Nanoskin Sponge
3. Spray Wax - Any standalone sealant that is spray, wipe and buff. Most good ones last from 2-5 months.
4. All-In-One Glass Cleaner and Sealant - Spray, Wipe, Buff and Buff

Hope this helped :)

For my "Office" packages - Megs RFW&W, wheels / tires, glass, vacuum, dash / console wipe, tire dress. Megs Final Touch where and if needed. For the extra $15 wax application, Megs D156. Whole process takes about an hour and half for $50. I can do 5 or six a day and can almost guarantee repeat business. I'll send a customized detail quote to them afterwards based on what I find with the car while I have it. This has been very successful so far. Starts off on the cheap, impress them, boom....Im the MAN
