hey im just curious as to what washes you guys are using to good effect with a foam gun. as well as what sort of dilution rates your using with the washes. Currently im using meguiars gold class and its not sudsing as much as id like. Just ordered some CG washes to experiment with, but id like to here what you fine people are using.

I actually use Megs GC also in my foam cannon and it foams great. I usually put 2oz in the reservoir since it is so inexpensive and my car has such thick foam on it that it can be hard to rinse it all off!

I am using Optimum Car Soap and it foams real good with a foam gun

All I've used works great with foam gun, and that may include,

Meg's Hyper Wash, Meg Shampoo Plus, Meg NXT soap, Ultimate Wash and Wax, CG Citrus, CG Wash and Wax, Detailer's Xtreme Foam, 3M Car Soap, and many others.

You have to find the proper dilution to soap you're using, generally 2oz is enough for a ~30oz cannon, some require more, some may work good with less.

Kind Regards.

Mike said for dilution he uses the glug glug method and fills a quart container 1/4 to 1/3 of the way with soap and the rest water lol

thanks guys, ill have to give em a try. filling a quart foam gun jug 1/3 full would put the extraction nozzle in the soap solution, do u shake the jug up first?

I shake it as well.

I've seen some using warm water on cannon relating this may improve something, I've never used, but depending on case may be a point to consider.

Just be aware of water temperature to avoid damaging the cannon or ultimately something in the car (can't expect this to be possible, but who knows...).

Kind Regards.

I used cheap ol turtle wax soap when I first got my gun, (that's what I had at the time) used the 2 finger method then filled to the top, it foamed ok.

Next Meg's gold, 1 finger and 2/3 water, thick foam, thick enough that you cannot tell my truck is black, for what it's worth.

I just can't justify spending $20+ on special foaming soap, when a gallon Meg's gold is doing the job for half the price. I know that may not be the most popular decision.

For a regular maintenance wash I use DG 901. I have the foam gun. 3 oz. of DG to 9 oz. of water and use the middle setting. For a detail I use same dilution and setting with CG Citrus Wash Red.

CG honeydew w/ warm water

Why do you think warm water works better for foam cannons?

Does it help the soap mix with the water better?

It must be that, b/c by the time the solution from the cannon is mixed the water from the faucet/hose, the temperature can't be much higher.

I find diluting the soap as little as I can while having the soap not stick to the walls, and then set to the lowest or one of the lower settings, gets me the best foaming action.

Also, the best foaming soap I've used has been citrus wash & gloss.
