Hi, I was wondering whats the best non abrasive wax to use on an 86 black mustang. I plan on showing it in two weeks and want to choose the best product for the age/color of the car. I have shows back to back weekends so I want to find something I can use multiple times over a short time period that won't damage the paint. I can add pics of the car if it will help.

For black absolutely and I have a HUGE wax collection.
There are many excellent other choices and I've used a lot on my GC over the past 3-1/2 years but BF BI is in a class of it's own on black paint.

Wow, your car looks great! I was reading that they recommend using in conjunction with BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection. Is this abrasive at all and does it remove paint? Considering the age of the car I want to make sure I only use products that are non abrasive and won't remove any paint.View attachment 36982

Pinnacle Souveran Paste wax for a Black car would be the choice. I have used Blackfire Black Ice and for me I did not like it. It is a hybrid wax. There are other choices that would be great too, however, you can't go wrong with Souveran.

It's all good bro, but I like BF Midnight Sun better than Souveran, this is BF Wet Ice Over Fire Combo on my GC.
This is perhaps the best bargain for a combo, and to answer the op, no these do not have abrasives and this is a great 1-2 combo. It just depends on how much you want to invest.

If this is the original paint,
I would first use the following product:
Meguiars M305 Ultra Finishing Durable Glaze 16 oz.
Then for the following scenarios:
I'd apply either of the below products, atop
the existing M305, when it's: "Show Time!"
• Meguiars #26 Hi-Tech Paste Wax is carnauba paste car wax with polymer additives for maximum longevity. Meguiars #26 High Tech Paste Car Wax is great
• 3M Perfect It Show Car Paste Wax, 3m 39526, creates an ultra high gloss finish, with long-lasting protection!
• Finish Kare 1000P Hi-Temp Paste Wax, high melt polymer car wax, Finish care auto wax
Use your favorite Detail/QD Spray for
fingerprints removal and sprucing-up.

I haven't clayed the car and I can't say if it had been done by the previous owner. I've only had the car since the end of June. I dot think the paint is original. My concern is that I may do more harm than good by doing extra things. I want to make sure whatever I decide to do, it is going to be safe and I'm not going to cause any damage.

Honestly you'll do more harm than good by not giving your cars paint the proper attention.
Look at all the classic cars Mike P and his detailing classes have done in the past few years and the Thursday night details. They have dealt with many different ages of paint and always made the cars look excellent, better than before.
And as Mike always recommends, do a test spot first.
Have you done the "baggie test" on the paint?

I'm a big fan of Collinite 845 on my black metallic VW. It looks great, very easy to apply, and great durability.
