Before recieving my MF towels i want to wash them before i use them. I have been reading old threads on what to do and so far here is what i think.

1)Wash it with hot water
2)Wash it with liquid detergent
3)Could i dry it with the dryer on low heat?

1)Wash it with hot water - that's what I use
2)Wash it with liquid detergent -I use Pinnacle Micro Rejuvenator
3)Could i dry it with the dryer on low heat - low heat or air dry.

Could i just use Tide liquid detergent instead of using the Pinnacle Rejuvenator?

before i got the pinnacle cleaner, i used woolite in the washer...don't see why tide should be too different. just don't use a lot- go easy, and no fabric softner!
dp makes a pad cleaner and there is another brand of liquid too here on AG, if you do't want to pay for pinnacle brand. the dp powder is nice! someone sent me a sample to try.;)

Yah, that is the third one I was referring to. I have that in my order that is on its way, so I can't vouch for it yet. I do recall thinking the bottle had less ounces in it than I expected - it looks large on the screen.:)

Also is it okay to mix colors?

don't mix dark and lights. like a white shmitt with a blue microfiber - otherwise it is fine. tonite i washed the dark blue, with the purple/lavendar, with orange (vroom from target...ok but not as good.)

I usually wash all of my MFs together in warm water (not hot) and use Woolite to wash it. I do perform a second rinse just to be sure. I only hang-dry, I don't put them in the dryer.

Hey Lauren, were not talking about clothes here. I don't think your car will know the different if the colors in your MF towels did run. Is the ShMitt a micro fiber product? I just received my first ScMitt's with an order I received the other day and have not had a chance to use it. I hope it's as soft as Truls said. Anyways if the ScMitt is not a micro product I read somewhere that you should not wash and dry your MF stuff with non-MF stuff.

Washing / Care Directions: Use hot (120oF - 50oC<) water and add 1-2 ounces to a standard size (8 gallon – 30 litres) load, for larger loads or heavily soiled laundry, add 3-6 ounces. As a pre-spotter: dilute 1 part concentrates with 3 parts water, apply to stain and launder as usual. Do not use fabric softener (most contain silicone that the towel will adsorb and it will weaken the towels static charge and clog the fibres thereby reducing their effectiveness) towel will also treat the fabric softener as if it was dirt by trying to store the tiny particles of the softener in the towel fibres. This will clog up the micro fibres and render the towel ineffective. If the minerals are not removed from the towel it will eventually cause the towel to become abrasive and reduce its ability to absorb product / water.

Add a teaspoon distilled white vinegar in place of a softener per towel, the vinegar doesn't coat the fibres but instead works to eliminate detergent residue and the acid counteracts any alkaline minerals in the water supply. Vinegar (Acetic acid, pH=2) works well in the rinse cycle to make your towels softer. Detergent is an alkaline (pH=12, the opposite of acidic on the pH scale). When you wash your towels (or anything for that matter) there are small amounts of detergent left behind, when your add Vinegar it balances the pH of the solution and helps removes the excess detergent from the wash.

When detergents build up from improper washing, towels will become stiff and loose there effectiveness, boiling them for a few minutes will eliminate all the waxes, polishes and chemicals. If you properly wash and maintain on a regular basis you'll never need to resort to this extreme corrective step

Do not wash micro fibre cloths / towels with other non- micro fibre fabrics, as they will pick up lint from other fabrics. Air dry or you can dry micro fibre cloths / towels in any dryer on low heat, remove them before they are still damp (cuts down on static charge) just be sure that the dryer does not dry at temperatures above 235 oF as a synthetic Microfiber will melt if heated too high. Colours may bleed during first washing.

For towels or foam pads that are used for polymer (Zaino) application or badly stained towels or polishing pads;
Use a hot water (120 0F – 40 0C) 1:1 solution / Simple Green® Aircraft & Precision Cleaner http://industrial.simplegreen.com/ind_prod_ext_mor.php

I use the ALL non scented concentrated detergent (I stared hard at the bottle but never saw anything. Old blonde joke!). Stuff works really well. I also use hot water.

I use woolite and then add a cup of vinegar during the rinse cycle. Works well for me. I did receive some Pinnacle Micro Rejuvenator with a MF combo I purchased so I am going to try it soon.

Your good! And correct about the pH! Thanks for your input.

what would happen if i did mix the colors up? The light mf towels will just change colors or will it affect the fibers?

on the cobra supreme guzzler it says to use cold water, but u guys recommend hot water. What to do?!?!

Guzzler/Glass towels = Cold Water

MF for wax/polish/qd/other chemicals = Hot Water

wash with rejuvinater cleaner then dry low heat with dryer balls. i only dry them for like 15 min then i take them out to hangdry . they come out fine.
