I have a 2011 ford sport trac with chrome grills and roof rack. I was wondering what the best way price wise and looks wise to make the chrome black. Also, Feel free to let me know if you think it would look bad or not. Your advice is appreciated, thank you

+1

Plasti dip it and if you don't like it, peel it off like it was never there.

I Plastidiped my chrome rims like 4 months ago, was easy and it looks pretty good. A lot of people thought I had bought new rims. Not bad for $20 and a few hours of work :D

Plasti Dip certainly is the cheapest method and it's in no way destructive to the surface. It's also very easy to take off and restore if you don't like the look.

However, Plasti Dip can be done very poorly by those who don't take time, and if it chips and peels can look equally awful.

If you want, you can use the Glossifier spray to add a little gloss, and from a difference, it's hard to tell if the rims are powder coated and grill work isn't clear coated.

It can look really nice...but also really awful.

As for your second question, I think blacking out the grill will complement your rims and make your truck look a little more sinister. ;)

I don't like glossifier, its not very good IMO. To get a good gloss you have to lay it on to the point of dripping. Its a very thin line to walk.

I've been trying different water-based trim and tire dressings. They work well to get shine on dip.

Also, use a spray wax on the dip after it dries to get rid of the "rubbery" feel. Microfibers are anti-plastidip if you don't remove that rubber feel.

Thank you all for all the replies, that made my first post a success! thanks
