Better fit! 476 or Poorboy's EX

I'm new to the forums and if I said I knew very little about detailing that would be an over statement.

But, I"m wanting to at least learn the proper basics so I can properly take care of a new vehicle (Sorento) I just purchased. Up to now, I've only had used cars that I would have to admit didn't receive the love they should have.

After reading the forums I've narrowed down the sealant I'm going to use down to two.

Poorboy's World EX Sealant with Carnauba
Collinite 476

From everything I read durability with Collinite is going to be longer but wasn't sure it was still the best fit for my situation.

I live in sunny Florida. I don't have a garage or other over head cover so finding a shady day to wash and wax might be a little challenging.

I think the ideal wax/sealant for me would be one that:

Last at least 3 months in the Fl sun. Knowing me I wouldn't want to wax more then 3 months or so (baby steps)

Could possibly apply in the sun or at best a semi cloudy day.

Easy to apply and remove.

One that won't have me paranoid of getting it on my trim.

And if this makes any difference my car color is silver with black pin strips.

I would love to hear some options on which of the two sealants would probably be the best fit for my situation or even other options.

Welcome to AGO and congrats on the new car.

All poorboys products are formulated to be able to be used in direct sunlight for people who are in your exact situation, not having a garage or carport.

Not sure about either of those products regarding your trim, but a couple pieces of masking tape will keep anything from getting on the trim.

The 476 is super durable, probably more so than any other "traditional" wax or sealant on the market. If you live anywhere near the coast the salty air will degrade your protection layer quicker than if you live inland. Just something to keep in mind.

I can't speak for the Poorboy's EX, but I've been beating the crap out of 476 all winter in Central NY and I can't believe how well it has held up.
 
I'm going to do a comparison on Meguiars Ultimate Wax vs Collinite 476s on my wheels and see which one holds up better.

My 476 is just sitting there so might as well put it to use :)

Something to remember is the Collinite products are not 100% wax. They are a blend with other stuff in them. The considerations come down to durability, appearance, cost, and ease of use.

I've been a long term Klasse Selant Glaze user, but after using Collinite 845 this fall/winter I've found it to be just as durable, much easier to use, less expensive, and it looks amazing. I'll use up my Klasse supply, but probably won't buy more when it runs out.
