Is it better to use a citrus car wash from a pre wash cleaner to loosen the dirt or does a regular car wash do the same job

Many Europeans are switching from foam to pre-soak citrus products.

Problem is they are way ahead of us in developing those products and are very hard to find in the USA.

Don't confuse what I'm referring to with citrus all purpose cleaners found in this country. Those products are not all purpose cleaners as they don't harm the LSP.

Whilst you are right that we are way ahead of you in many regards (citrus cleaners, bleeding fallout removers, non acid wheel cleaners), don't be too easily fooled. All these products are coming from a relatively few places and many of them are very similar to exactly the sort of APCs you mention. The difference is just in the marketing. I have argued at length with regards to the stripping of LSPs and most APCs at any sensible strength will not make a dent in a good LSP. The citrus products on the market are often diluted forms when they get to you, the user. One popular product is actually ready to use and LSP safe - don't kid yourself, the reason it is safe is not clever chemistry, it is a concentration game! In my view, the market has a long way to go with citrus precleaners. At the moment the products people buy are typically used between neat and 10:1 - this adds up to shockingly weak products. Our standard product is routinely used at 50:1 but such is the market, we sell it and it is sometimes diluted before an end user ever touches it. It is not down to a cost, there is no problem retailing 500ml of 100:1 citrus prewash for $10 - the problem is that users seem quite content spending the same money for a product 10x weaker, very odd!

As far as the application is concerned, why not just use a pump sprayer? The foam guns are designed to foam but the prewash products do not really need this. Dilute into a pump sprayer and then spray it that way. Saves the need for a foam gun and probably saves a bit of water and energy along the way.
