Big Bad Chevy - Emphasis on the words Big and Bad...

Whooo, boy! That is one bad truck! Wonder what kind of gas mileage it gets? :D

Approximately 8 miles per gallon

:wow: holy #### that is one big bad ass truck! I would love to see pics of how your going to do the roof on the front half lol

I plan on levitating. It's an advanced detailer procedure for tall vehicles. We teach this in our Detailing 103 class.

At least you won't have to lay on the ground to polish the lower painted areas. :D

Why so huge ?

The owner is a welder/fabricator and building custom trucks is a hobby. The car culture in America includes a very wide spectrum of enthusiasts, some people like to customize a Toyota Prius, some like to customize a Chevy Truck. It's still a freedom we enjoy in the United States.

Yeah really, you could mow down a Hummer in that thing!

2 Hummers actually.

Will you be detailing everything? Tires, wheelwells, interior, etc?

Everything that time allows but the priority is the exterior paint, wheels and tires.

I'm not really a pickup truck fan so I just don't get the point of having a truck of that size. Or maybe the owner is using it for work purpose...

Dave the owner works for the American Custom Yachts Incorporated and uses the truck at the manufacturing site to move Yachts around the facility.

Hey Mike, is this another demonstration of how long it takes you to work without a machine?

Working with out a machine is for the purpose of demonstrating time differences between Man and Machine, the paint on this truck will be machine cleaned, polished and protected.

I wonder if those garage tiles are rated to hold that much weight. Going to be a nice turnaround!

Good question. It's estimated the truck weighs somewhere from 13,000 to 14,000 pounds, I inspected the tiles after the truck left and so no physical damage or imprints.

your going to need alot of tire dressing...:xyxthumbs:

We can probably handle the tire dressing needs.

That truck..... is insane.

I think I know what the next addition to the new AG studio should be: a fridge full of Red Bull! You're going to need it on this one!

Or Rock Star or Monster Energy Drinks... hmmm sponsorship? Wonder if any Reps from Red Bull, Monster or Rock Star read the forum? Lots of pictures and video shooting coming up...

At least it ain't black

Starting about 5:00pm tonight I'll be loving white paint...

That is one humongous truck! I love it! I like the lift kit too. Still clean for an off-road machine! What chevy is it?..just curious.

2004 Chevrolet Custom Kodiak

(I updated the front page with the specifics)

Looks like a now-discontinued TopKick medium duty truck with a GMT900 Silverado 3500HD dually bed. Judging by the underside of it I'd guess it's got a Duramax diesel under the hood, possibly the Allison transmission.

Correctamundo, see the first post on the first page for specficis...

:)

Besides a daily driver, the truck is used to move Yachts around at American Custom Yachts Incorporated.

Wow that is one big ugly truck. That bed just looks silly.

He's back....

Just pulled in, it's raining outside, so at least I don't have to worry about soap solution drying on the car before I can rinse it clean. :D

Dave told me the truck has a fairly new paint job, it's single stage finish and it's never been buffed, so there are no machine induced swirls.

This should be an easy buff as the goal is to clean the paint and then seal it using the least aggressive products to get the job done and due to it's size, were' also going to practice the old idea of using the least amount of steps...

:)

What time you want me up there to help.I won't go up on the roof too high up and i don't want a noise bleed.

I promise I'll never complain if I ever have to wash another S.U.V.

After washing, I drove the Behemoth into the studio where I can dry it with some waffle weave drying towels and then inspect the paint for above surface bonded contaminants.

Ready to dry and then clay the paint. After washing I felt the vertical surfaces, (haven't got up high enough at the time of this post to feel the horizontal surfaces), and there's definitely above surface bonded contaminants, my guess is some overspray paint.

If you're reading this and you have never used detailing clay before, here's a video on how to use detailing clay to remove above surface bonded contaminants.

How detailing clay works and how to use detailing clay to remove above surface bonded contaminants

For #### and giggles I want to see a picture of that thing parked next to your jeep mike!

Awesome, will be following this thread.

And I thought my dad's suburban was big...That is one awesome, giant truck.

Hope you get paid by the hour

That is really single stage paint? I didn't even think any manuf still used single stage anymore.

Reminds me of that Crocodile Dundee line, slightly modified:
" That's not a truck, THAT'S a truck". You're going to need a gallon of EVERYTHING to wash, clay, polish & wax that thing! What a monster, I could fit my Escalade UNDER it
