Hey everyone,

For those of you I don't know, I am Alex and I'm 23. I have been running my detailing business for the last 7 years. I was by myslef until I got really swamped with the amount of school and work that I had acquired. About 3 years ago, I asked my friend Joe to help me out on jobs. I gave him a fair hourly wage, paid for his lunches, ect. He got into detailing so much he wanted to see if he could buy into my company. I knew he would be a guy I could trust with good quality work while keeping my business's reputation for fine detailing. Today, I just agreed to lease a small shop (3-4 cars) and also get insurance. I already have my business license and pay taxes, but this was the last icing on the cake! It's small, yet affordable to where we both could work at the same time and have a place to store our trailer and equipment. Will post pics when we do clean it up and get everything locked and loaded!!! :xyxthumbs: Another step is that I am graduating college this december from LSU, so as a graduation gift my parents are buying me a 6x12 TA Cargo Trailer for my new mobile set-up. I plan to outfit it with a water tank, pressure washer, generator, ect. but will use my existing trailer I have in the meantime. Anyways, just really excited about how everything is going for us and just wanted to share the good news! CAN'T WAIT TO GET TO :buffing::buffing::buffing:

Thanks for reading!

Congrats and all the best wishes for success. It is great to see people try to make it for themselves rather than expect others to just hand them a job! Go get them!

Good for you man!!! Sounds like you are on the right track.

Look up a book by Dave Ramsey called Entreleadership, It will help you build your business, and no I don't work for him lol.

Congrats! If you don't mind me asking, what is your major you are graduating with? Anything business related or something else that you can get a job in another field of work?

:iagree:At 23 you won't feel the aches and pains. At 43 you will..why waste 20 years doing manual labor. Not saying you can't be successful being a detailer, but having a degree will get you further, imo. What ever you decide, good luck to you.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys. I'm a little nervous about the higher fixed costs, ect. But, that's all business is about... Risk/Reward. I am a Economics Major so I have taken my fair share of accountings, finances, and management classes to have a good grasp on business models and the operational process of it. In the future, I plan to slowly hire people to work for me and save easy jobs for myself. I will eventually phase myself out of the physical part of it, but for now I love what I do.
