So I wasn't at all happy that the nieghbor boy decided to lean his bike up on the hood of our van. The result was a deep scratch through the clear and paint and a nasty thin one that would prove hard to fill and level but luck was on my side today.

Here's a pictoral of the steps along the way. Dr. Color chip is some dang great stuff. I'm not so much a fan of the "smearing" of the paint to perfection but it does help remove excess. I simply get the scratch as level as I can and I wet-sand it to where I can then simply buff/polish things to match.

Here's what I was faced with:

Notice the little scratch to the top left of the long one....that didn't fix up easily so I will have to come back to it another time. However, it will help serve s a reference point as to where the long scratch is. I say long but it's only about 4" or so.

I then over-filled the scratch with the Dr. Color Chip Paint and used their solvent to help blend/level it as best I could. The smearing is normal and wipes off later with ease.

Wet Sanding Begins:

Dry off look at progress so far: Using 800 and 1500 grit I was getting close

Continued to sand and work on it:

Time to step back and hit it with some HD Adapt and an orange Pad to see how it turned out

Final Polish with some HD Speed and for now, I can live with the results. I circled the one point that didn't come out....yet. I admit I was in a bit of a hurry as I wanted to hit my car with some new goodies that arrived today :)

nice job, about as good as it gets without a repaint...
