Hi everybody,

I just joined the forum today and have a question?

I have a 1991 LX 5.0 white convertible. The original paint on my car is in VERY GOOD condition. I have been using Klasse AIO on the car for years.

I have bird dropping about the size of a quarter on the hood.

Is there any product that I can purchase that can be appled by hand to remove this? I appled about 4 coats of Klasse AIO on the spot with no luck.

Thanks

Larry

i think he is talking about a bird poo etching? probably will have to go with an abrasive polish or something. maybe scratchx 2.0

scratchx 2.0 works well. had to remove a bird crap etching last night. a couple of passes by hand with an mf removed the blemish completely

here's another good one. kit scratch out. i use it on my vintage watch crystal. apply by hand and enjoy the results.

chances are, you whole car needs to be polished if all you ever use is an aio product....but for spot scratches and bird crap etching, i guess you can give the scratchx a shot....i have it, but never use it as i have other products and a machine for defect removal....

Thanks guys for the information. Who puts out the ScratchX 2.0?

A few good OTC products for use by hand from most to least aggressive are...

Meguiars Ultimate Compound
Meguiars ScratchX 2.0
Meguiars SwirlX

polish and sometimes wetsanding are needed for birdie etching, best of luck.

Try polishing but when bird poo is allowed to sit and etch your paint wet sanding is the only way to fully remove it.

Alright. good news. Funny thing happened today. My buddy popped in this after noon while I was in the garge and he pointed out a bird dropping etch from 2 summers ago that he got. DAMN!!! I said. The car is a 911 dark blue, so I went to work by washing the area, drying the area and then I pulled out the clay and went to work. I dried and cleaned after the claying and began polishing with some 3M 06064 and Boooyaa. He couldnt even tell.

I had some 2000 grit paper and block, but...... no way was I ready to wet sand. Thank Goodness.

You were lucky. Depends on what the bird was eating at the time it may or may not come out with polishing.

BTW always keep some QD and mf in your trunk and try to get it off as soon as possible to avoid wet sanding.
