Has anyone used this extractor? I saw it and am wondering if it works any better than the regular Little Green Extractor.

It is $20 more than the regular Little Green and says it keeps the water an extra 25 degrees over the hot tap water.

My question is, is it worth the extra and does Thr extra 25 degrees provide "that" much more cleaning power?

I've heard good things about the Little Green but not much about the Pro-Heat version.

Any help with my decision making will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

In for info as I'm looking at buying this little guy this weekend. Congrats on post # 1,000!

I got a refurbished one for under $50 shipped. The water burnt my finger and then I felt dumb for touching it.

There are many people here who like it!

Not a bad little machine for the price.

The water comes out warm, the hose is very very short.

Mine broke after a few uses

My tap water may be hotter/not as hot as others---what would matter to me is the maximum degrees it would heat water up to.

I think that the cleaning power is determined by the power rating (amps). If the Pro version is of an higher amperage, then the extra monies would be justified.

I would also check the capacity of the tank.

Hope this helps some....Bob

Bob, these things have little tanks on them, they were designed for spot cleaning in your house. I can't remember right off the top of my head but the little water tank doesn't hold much. It would be interesting to know what temperature it actually heats the water to and what psi it releases steam. I may just call Bissell tomorrow.

*Edit - I see your response about tap water temps, that's a perfect answer. It would be best to measure the temp at your house and then add 25 degrees for the Bissell heater.

RE: Tap Water Temp: That's what I was trying to say...thanks for the clarification.

RE: Tank Capacity: Thanks for pointing that out. I should have said/ask: Does the Pro version have a larger tank capacity than the regular Little Green? :)...Bob

I love mine! Personally I can get a set of DISGUSTING floor mats done from an SUV like an expedition done on one tank. I have had mine (the original) for about 3 years with no problems what so ever! The one thing I do find useful with it however is removing the brush to do the scrubbing... the hose can sometimes be a pain when you're trying to scrub. Just my .02!!!!!

Thanks for the great answers guys. I think my biggest concern is with the heating element. I am wondering how durable it is and how easily it can be cleaned. If calcium builds up it will restrict it's heating capabilities. Normally with a "consumer line" product these types of things aren't the best quality and the extra money for an industrial grade is worth it. Especially for the amount of use it will see. But, I bought a Eureka Enviro Steamer a while back that has "earned it's keep" and it's a consumer grade.....

I dont know that the "pro" is short for "professional" i think it's more of a "hot" word. I will check into that more though.

The temp questions are good ones. Now that I think about it, there has to be a maximum temp that it tops out at. Would it matter if my hot tap is 90 degrees and someone elses is 100? Wouldnt the water heat to a particular temp and then top out, but the only difference being it would heat the 90 degree water to the same temp or does it actually add 25 degrees to the current temp no matter how hot or cold it is? I don't really know.

Like Richard said, the tank is really small. Maybe 10 oz or so. Wonder how far that will go?

However, I did notice that both units the store had in stock had been returned because the boxes have been opened. Wonder if that's an indicator of it being subpar.

I should has read more about it while inwas there but my daughter was with me and she needed to get to sleep. Ill probably stop and check it out again tomorrow.

Can't believe i have 1,000 posts! I'm catching up to ya Richard!

I'm convinced, I'll pick one up this weekend :). I ran this by my wife making sure to add "you can use it around the house if needed", she liked the idea!

Are you using the heated version?

Me too! I told her i will get the couple stains my daughter put on the couch out haha!

My guess is the opened/returned boxes are not because of it being subpar, I would say that maybe they expected more or needed the money back. If it was used then it shouldn't go back on the shelf, it would be sent off to get refurbished.

I have a hard time buying something like this after it has been returned. It probably wasn't cleaned properly.

I will proabably go to another Wal-Mart to get one of theirs.

Took the words right out of my mouth! If a box has tape on it that obviously was not placed by the company, it doesn't go home with me. I will wait or check other stores.

Bissell has a refurbished unit as does most companies. When I got mine everything was cleaned and looked brand new. It's not like I was buying a used one off the shelf..

It also comes with a warranty.

I have the heated version. With my unit, the water comes out warm, not hot. Pretty cool "mini" extractor, though.

I have a Pro Heat version and love it. It works better than I ever expected. I have mine about a year and use it at least once a week with no breakage or complaints. Some tips for getting the most out of one of these machines for auto use.

- Do not buy the turbo brush model. The brush is basically useless for auto use.
- Make sure your carpets are vaccummed very well
- Pretreat areas that are soiled heavilly with some sort of carpet extractor pretreatment and a brush.
- I got a carpet extractor solution from my local detailer supplier that works much better than the Bissell solution and only costs $15 a gallon. The Bissell solution isn't very effective IMO.
- Make sure you use the hottest water from your tap possible. It does heat up water but only about 15 -25 degrees above the current water temp in tank.(Yes this little bit of heating makes a huge difference in cleaning ability)
- after each use, run clean water thru to clean any solution out of heating element and wand.
- Work slow.

The tanks aren't super big but are not difficult to refill and empty by any means.

A girl that works for me has one, and even with our ninja, she prefers to do her own vehicle with the pro heat machine....she does have dainty little hands though. The heat is what will do the cleaning for you though.
