This car was a respray about 3 years ago. It had been wet sanded and compounded, but never finished off properly. There was also a lot of deep RIDS and swirls, which appeared to be from a old or dirty buffing pad. In a few areas the paint had shrunk down and needed to be wet sanded as well. The hatch for the top had been repainted and the owner wet sanded that before I arrived.

The owner had also been doing some things that marred and scratched the finish over the years. Upon completion he was given the tools/products needed to maintain the finish and I explained how to use them.

Process:

Clay - Meguiars mild clay and Last Touch
Step 1 - M105 via rotary and Meguiars Solo heavy cutting pad
Step 2 - M105 via rotary and meguiars W7006 pad
Step 3 - M205 via rotary and LC white polishing pad
Step 4 - M205 via rotary and 3M UK finishing pad
LSP - Dodo Juice Supernatural

It was snowing the day I got there so no outdoor before pics...

After....sorry, it was late when I finished and sun was almost gone. I will go back another day and take full sun shots.

The owner had some cool stuff in his garage that made for nice reflection shots...

The side pipes kicked up some dust when he pulled it back in...you can see it a little in these pics :(

Reflection of the '66 with a 427 and matching numbers...which I will be doing in the spring. ;)

...aside from the cars, this was my favorite piece of art in the garage! :)
Mods, feel free to delete if needed, but it is art ;)

Thanks for looking,

beautiful car. i love the chrome rear bumpers on that era of corvettes. i have a 74 stingray but that year did not come with a chrome bumper and i just cant stand it.

Thanks guys! It was a 24+ hour project...I started getting sick the last day too. :(

It was a lot of fun working on this car, the owner would stop out from time to time and always has a smile on his face. ;)

Can't wait to do the '66 this spring.

Nice correction, the hood and fenders are ugly though. I personally like the 67 the best. He needs one of those since he has the 66 and 68.

Thanks.

I actually like the hood, but would agree on the louvered fenders.

Fantastic job and fantastic car there!!!!!Amazing results...

I went back and got some better full sun shots today. A few guys over on Autopia wanted to see the motor too. The owner said this car does not actually have the L88 427 in it...though he does have one sitting in a crate. ;)

Not sure what the difference is between the 427 in the car and the L88, but she still sounds bad a$$!

RaskyR1, only a Detailing God could've pulled off something like that and even as you say, getting sick at the end, WOW! The sun shots really set the car off. How long would you say you've been doing this and...how do you get your business?

is that bedliner material on the rear quarter panels in front of the tire? if so, what did you do to dress that up?

Batmobile! Man that thing was in terrible shape, great turnaround!

Thank you!

I've been detailing a little over 18 years now, just on the side the last 9. I grew up with a father having a body shop in my back yard so I was wet sanding and buffing at about 14.

My business is all word of mouth right now, though I do have a web site being built. ;)

It's some sort of chip guard. The fenders were flared out quite a bit and he said they were always getting chipped up. At the time he was unaware of the 3M clear bra. He knows it looks ugly, but so do chips. I really didn't touch the stuff, only taped it off. This was strictly a paint correction. ;)

Thanks bro! :)

Did he do sorta a mini-tub? Those tires look huge for stock size, I'm assuming he modded it.

I think the rear fenders were widened by 3"....not sure if he narrowed the rear end though. It was a frame of resto and the whole underside is all powder coated up nice. ;)
