.... why run a spinning-vibrating machine all over it?

I gotta ask, do you have a PC ??? Alot of the recent comments lead me to believe you are concerned more as to what a rotary/circular buffer does than a random orbital buffer. The PC is very, very safe, and other than tossing it at the car literally, can do little harm. It can make the work of polishing and even sealing and waxing faster, should you want to use it that way.

I have a Porter Cable 7424 and use a Hitachi SP18VA Rotary on harder stuff.

My exact combo ..... never really use the Hitachi though. I am considering the Cyclo next, and really could not see a finish looking anywhere near acceptable without a buffer.

Would you use the cyclo before the PC or in between the PC and rotary??

I don't think I could pay attention long enough to do a whole car with a Rotary, and I guess it takes quite some time to be proficient. I just use it when the PC with the Orange Lake Country pad with Meg's 83 doesn't work after a few passes.

If I could post a link to the Meg's site, my avatar has my rotary work in it? I bought a trunk lid from a taxi at a junk yard so I could see what it would take to burn paint.

Maybe I should try practicing on some crap door/trunk. Hey, do you need to get that Makita for like 160 or can you use any rotary?

Cyclo would be a replacement for the PC. Consider it the Lambo of random orbitals.
