Hey guys and gals. New to the site and looking to polish out my new to me 2007 F350 Outlaw. It's black and has swirls, buffer marks, hazing, and light scratches down the side. Not through the clear coat tho. I'm looking for recommendations for pads and polishes to bring this paint back to life. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!

Anything will help... learning the process & technique will produce bigger benefits than any particular product.
Pick up a Griot's Garage 3rd gen polisher, a collection of 5.5" and 3" pads (I typically recommend meguiar's microfiber cutting pads, lake country orange light cutting pads, white polishing pads, and black finishing pads as that covers most everything).
Then pick up something cheap and simple like Meguiar's Ultimate Compound & Ultimate Polish. Ford Black paint is typically on the softer side, and I bet you will achieve amazing results with even these "basic" products.
Take the time to research and learn the basics before diving in, then you will learn a ton as you gain more experience. With a vehicle that large, you'll probably be a pro by the time you're finished.

I have lots of experience cutting and buffing being a bodyman. However. I don't buff black cause im not good at it. However. This is a good time to learn and figure things out. And my truck will be a perfect learning experience to perfect that technique. Just looking for recommended processes before I dig in and waste money on materials. Was defineately thinking the mothers ultimate compound and polish. Not so sure about pads. DA Polishing is completely new to me.

I recently did a newer F350 in black with a 2 step correction. It was swirled up and had some minor scratches.
Flex 3401 with LC orange hybrid / Menz 400 followed by LC white hybrid Menz 4500 gave fantastic results.
The job including coating and interior took me roughly 36 hours.

Any pictures of your results? Was the clear softer on it like said above?
Being that it is in bad paint condition,pic would help guide you down the right path of process and products.

I was in a rush to get it done so I didn't even think about pictures till long after the sun went down. This is one I took of the hood.
The paint was fairly soft and was not a pain to correct.

Looks rough but not too too bad. Our minivan was close to that. Like the pics shown, there are going to be a few deeper scratches left that will be needing addressed but overall it should turn out fine.

Yellow / orange pads, some Meguiar's M101 and then hit it with Meguiar's Ultimate Polish. Believe it or not I hit the ones I showed with Yellow pads and Ultimate compound. Just had to lean into it a bit more.

Uber compound with some micro cutting pads then meguairs 205 for polishing with micro cutting pad.Those stubborn scratches may need to be leveled down with a rotary,if not stand on them with da to lightened them up a little.Then top it off with your choice of wax or sealant.paint is pretty rough it's gonna take time and do slow multiple passes with da.

my 09 f150 was used when i bought it from a landscaper,owner but the paint was rough tuxedo black. i had it for 2 years and turned in with just under a hundred k on it. the salesman said no way that paint had that many miles. many hours with pc, meguiar mf pads and 105. i used blackhole and topped with colly. i have just recently tried essence on a black ats that had some swirls and it looks great.
