Black Ice - What Do Users Think?

I had the chance to apply some BI today. Honestly, I'm not quite sure what I think of it yet. I didn't find it applied particularly easy or spread very far. Removal was pretty easy. It's not slick at all. Seemed like you had to use a lot of wax to cover the vehicle. Applied 2 coats.

Car was prepped with BF Gloss Enhancing Polish via Rupes 15 & GG6. Wheels were clayed, and re-OptiCoated. As, I applied OC to the wheels a few years ago, but not sure how well it took. This time I did my best to get them as clean as possible - Optimum Finish polish by hand, ONR as a clay lube, and wiped wheels down with 70% IPA.

Did all this over 2 days - as I'm pretty slow.

I guess time will tell. I loved Midnight Sun... But this stuff, not sure yet.

I'm curious what others think of this product. Anyway, here are some pics.

It's very easy to use, the trick it to apply a super thin coat, let it haze then gently buff it off.
Gives an amazing shine.
I found it to be user friendly in a big way.

I've tried quite a few waxes for my mustang and so far the winner is BlackICE.

I will say one thing for sure, it must be applied thin thin thin. I've applied 2 coats by machine, 1st coat was too thick as I soon learned my lesson. 2nd coat was really thin. When I applied back in November, it was roughly 55-60 degrees out and yes it was not slick until after 24 hours of curing...

Can't wait to try out Synergy :buffing:

I like everything about it but the smell. I agree that it doesn't spread quite as easy as others, like Souveran. My favorite attribute that Black Ice provides would have to be the water sheeting. I must admit I am disappointed in the durability of my last application but I can't fault the product yet. My prep was not as thorough as I would like. Slickness is acceptable for me. I am looking forward to your review of Synergy. Maybe a test of PBMG's big 3 is in order. Synergy, BlackIce, Fuzion. Waxes in the $200 range has become a competitive segment.

I Love it, Blackfire Black Ice is my go to for my black ride. I find it very easy to apply. I use my PC with a Black 4" pad and use very little, a few swipes from the jar does the whole car. Wipe off is a breeze. I'm going to top my PBL Diamond Sealant with it this weekend. This is when I had it on by itself in late fall.

It'll be an interesting test. I have two coats of Black Diamond on it now, so we'll see.

As for the smell, " I love the smell of shoe polish in the morning, it smells like....like boot camp "

I would consider topping it with something like Pinnacle XMT Spray Wax. It is like icing on the cake to get it some extra pop.

When it comes to today's waxes make sure to keep in mind, thin is in.
Sounds like you put way to much, the paint should be smooth as glass.
Also, prep work is the most important step in any type of detail your doing, more so when it comes to the last step.

Here's a tip when using BF or any wax for that matter......

If you think you don't have enough product on your pad simply touch the glass with the pad, if you see product then you keep going without adding more.
BF is one of the easiest waxes to use, sort of like the 845.

I used it on this 1999 BMW Z3 and the results were sick, the shine was incredible.

I've never used DG, but I was using V7 and had turned all my buddies on to V7 which I think is a great product imho. Then I tried BFWDPS and suffice it to say, V7 now takes a second place on my shelf now. Jusy my opinion, but I really like the BF on top for a quick detail spray or after a wash. Like I said I bought it on bogo and when I bought a gallon during the Xmas sales used an additional 20% off coupon so got it for a good deal.

Can you give us a comparison between the BF spray and the Duragloss spray?

Hateswirls I can not give you a comment on the Duragloss spray as I have not tried it, however, The Blackfire Wet Diamond Polymer Spray is my favorite and I have tried several different brands to compare. It is the easiest to put on and no streaking or fogging if you missed a spot. This is my goto detail spray. I bought the gallon and have 3 different sprayers 1 in each car (2) and 1 for my garage.

IMO one of the best detail sprays

Directions suggest using it prior to an application of BLACKFIRE hybrid-Wax...
Yet I don't like that BLACKFIRE Gloss Enhancing Polish
is a hybrid-Finishing Polish/Glaze.

(This doesn't preclude the fact that I'm also a hybrid.)
