Black Tohoe = Lots of fun

I actually stole this from a post I put on AutopiaForums like a year ago but it was fun so I'll throw it out there.

In this coner standing in at 155lbs soaking wet standing 6ft tall we have Joe from Orinda Auto Detail. And in that coner standing in at 4 tons and 8ft tall we have Black Chevy Tahoe with some very unhappy paint .

LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!!

Wash 50/50 dawn/pearl wash
3m perfect it clay bar
IPA
Wash
3M tape
3M perfect it rubbing compound Dewalt, Heavy cut wool pad
IPA
Wash
Tape agian
Flex 3401 Uno and Uno orange pad
IPA
Flex Uno and green Uno pad
IPA
Flex RD85 red CCS pad
HD poxy cured for 2 hours on paint before removing
Pinnacle to top

That turnaround is stunning considering how bad it was!
 
6ft, 155lbs? Joe needs a cheeseburger. Excellent work! Someone's been drying that thing with sandpaper.
 
Nice work, I think your off a ton in the weight of the Tahoe. It's more like 3 tons :) but amazing work none the less.

It was bad lol I remember just staring at the paint at one point for like 10 minutes hoping the scratches would go away lol.

Well youll be happy to knwo that was like a year ago and I now am a solid 164 :P. Thank you!

can i ask how long this took you? also what polishes and sealant did you use? i wasnt clear from the original list you posted.
 
Yes I would like to know how long it took. And if you do mind me asking, how much did you charge for that. By the way you knock that sun of gun out. Great Job !

Sorry for the delayed response, The whole truck was corrected using UNO V4 and Menz rd85. It was about 30 hours all in on that one.
 
do you think it's really necessary to do the IPA between each step? i'm getting ready to do a black tahoe as well although it's not in as bad a shape as the one you did.

any other tips or advice you can offer? how was the paint, hard, soft?

I personally ipa wipe panel between steps, but I like to get one panel perfect at time on a full correction like this was. Tips are hard to give... Now days there's so many polishers, polishes, pads, ect.... That you can get Similar results with a million combos. GM black is usually hard paint in my experience.
