Black Viper GTS Help!!!

I am detailing a black 2000 Viper GTS that has 6,000 miles on it. The paint is in really good shape with small scratches and swirls. I have done one step with a Flex with a "pink" Lake Country CCS pad using the Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover and the paint looked great but had just a few scratches left. I then went to do the 2nd step and with a "white" Lake Country CCS pad using the Wolfgang Finishing Glaze; when I removed the polish I noticed that the paint had a slight haze to it when it was applied. I then did another test spot on the hood and when I removed the polish the paint had a lot of small scratches.
I have done paint correction on a lot of cars and trucks from Jeeps to Ferrari's and i have never had any issues like this car.

I am up for any suggestions on what I should do on this Black Viper.
 
How clean was your pad?

Another thing to think may be that it's really soft paint. Try polishing with the finishing glaze and a red pad.
 
The pad was clean i just pulled it out of the sealed package it comes in.
I did try to put a Menzerna finishing glaze on it with a red pad and it didn't seem to change a thing.
 
Try changing pressure, number of section passes (even if it's just one), and pad rotation speed (machine speed). Just did a Porsche today and had the "tiny little scratches" issue exactly as you described. Whenever I don't get what I expect, I vary those.

What about the haze on the surface?
The temp was around mid to high 70's and the humidity was 69% do you think this could cause any of the hazing issues?
I just turned the a/c on to cool it down in there.

Don't think temp was an issue
 
Get ready to pull your hair out!

This is the softest paint I have ever worked on. What wored for me was Sonax EX 04-06 on a black buff and shine pad with the 3401 speed 3 light pressure.

Use a detailer to help aid in product removal to reduce towel markings
 
I just did one on Friday.

Used Menzerna 4500 and tangerine LC hydro-tech pads on my Flex to finish. It turned out phenomenal.

There are many possible reasons for the haze you describe however micro-marring seems to be the best theory so far (based on the car and color). One thing to consider in the equation is if the test spot does not pan out (following normal thinking) that sometimes you have to think outside the box. I am not saying this may be the case on this car but have you considered that the softer pad to finish down the 2 step may be too soft and that the micro marring may be due to pad wobble? I've had a couple of super soft paints which I actually finished with Reflect on a orange LC pad and even went as far as a CarPro Flash pad. It may sound like counter-intuitive thinking to go with a harder pad, but that is what experience and test spots help confirm. With a change in product, pad you can also change technique, speed, machine etc...

Here is an example of a DA haze "micro marring" on a soft paint after a relatively light compounding

The fix was actually SF4000 on a white pad on the Rupes 21 (larger throw)

I finally figured it out.... I used my PC 7424 for the 2nd step and it turned out great.
but my problem now is that I went over it with CG Black Light using a red LC CCS pad and once i removed the wax i had buffer trails in the paint.
I do not know what i did wrong on this step, I am LOST!!!
I have never had a car that gave me soo many problems.
Any suggestions on what to do?

Did you apply it with the Porter Cable?
 
Welcome to the nightmare of DA haze/aka micromarring.

You mentioned first the pink pad. Funny those pink, and even the green one's there that fall between the orange and white on the Lake Country scale. The pink is fairly firm, yet the green is crazy soft, yet has more cut than even a white pad. Of course they are both CCS pads.

Might be you need a flat version or perhaps even the constant pressure would be good to try. :dunno: They're pretty cool to work with because the face is still consistent firmness but the backing on the pads allow them to flex a bit better.

Another thing on CCS pads is a lot of guys really don't like them with a DAT product. Having (newer) product continually being deposited on the surface, whilst trying to break down existing product is a known problem (especially when trying to finish down softer paints).

Funny enough though that typically Vipers have been known to have paint towards the harder side of things, (like at least 8 out of 10). It's these new black ones though that seem to go the other direction. I know I have a buddy that had a 09 red one and that paint was safely hard enough to not have to worry with. But his 14 black one is a totally different animal.

Black light has some abrasives in it. I would have avoided that product once you got the finish done given the trouble you've had finishing up. One of their pure cream glazes like EZ Creme or glossworkz glaze would be better if you're set on a CG product.
