Good morning! I see that Blackfire ceramic Pro, and Blackfire Ceramic Pro Black edition are on sale on autogeek. The Diamond is on sale as well.

How do these hold up against the big brands? The "regular" ceramic pro is pretty affordable, but the "Black Edition" is close to the same price as Gyeon EVO coatings or Carpro.

Are the blackfire coatings better? After searching, it looks like Mike Phillips is a fan, and Guz as well.

Anyone used these?

I also see Pinnacle has one for sale as well.

And Wolfgang. I don't think you'll find Mike Phillips using any Blackfire coatings now that he doesn't work for PBMG. I would suspect that the Blackfire, Wolfgang, and Pinnacle bottle coatings are all made by the same company, but who knows.

I honestly don't think you're going to get much feedback on this in the 24 hours the sale is going on. If price is the driving factor, and you've never used a coating before, then probably one of these house brands will be fine. If you have other considerations, then maybe best to go with one of the name brands which are also on sale (only 15% off on those).

I have the Wolfgang SCC and it's great. It's several years old and works fine out of the bottle. It isn't going to last over a year though, in wet conditions, less.

I actually won a Blackfire Pro Ceramic Coating kit at Autopia over 4 years ago. It was easy to work with and I really liked the results.

As far as longevity goes, it was still going strong at the 2 year mark and I then purchased a new vehicle. I would top it every couple of months with Blackfire SI02 Spray Sealant which was included in the kit I won.

Well, that's good info for the OP, since it looks like they extended the sale. Just out of curiosity, did that coating come in a glass bottle, or plastic? In the pictures it looks like plastic.

SCC? What is that?
I guess you meant "spray ceramic coating"? The OP was asking about the "real" coatings.

Definitely a glass bottle.

Definitely a glass bottle.
That's good to know. The only PBMG coating I ever had was the M37 from before the split, and it was in a plastic bottle and it turned into a piece of rubber before I ever got to use it and I had to throw it out.

I used the first generation of the Blackfire coating weeks after it hit the market...long before the re-branding. It too came in a plastic bottle and I have a feeling it didn't seal properly. That coating would flash instantly while you were spreading it which made it insanely hard to apply. The stuff was likely curing in the bottle before it was ever opened. It was my first attempt at a ceramic coating and a total nightmare. From what I remember they reformulated it pretty rapidly and changed the packaging.

Despite the horrible experience it lasted a couple years and looked pretty good. After a couple years recovering from the trauma of my first coating attempt, I moved on the M37 coating you sprayed onto a pad and then hit the good stuff when I found CQUK.

I think that's the stuff I had, it was a little bottle with a cap and they gave you a sprayer to put on for when you used it? I guess it was a 2oz or 4 oz bottle. I had bought it when AG was blowing out the M37 line at half price after M37 moved down the road (after they had been in the little studio adjacent to AG for a while). Anyway, I kind of forgot I had it, and found it I guess last year when I was evaluating my inventory to try and talk myself out of buying stuff on Black Friday, and had to toss it.

That's the stuff. If memory serves they had two versions. I never used the first version, but the second one wasn't too bad if you used it pretty quickly after buying it.

The black edition is the one I bought long ago and from what I can recall it had an enjoyable user experience. I also recall it did the swearing effect while it was flashing. Pretty decent hydrophobic behavior from what I can remember.
