Blackfire Crystal Seal - The 11 Minute Paint Sealant

Dear Mark & Ryan

Thanks for responding.

My order is at US$125.93, so I think I'll just wait on the Crystal Seal. I am going to try the Wet Diamond Polymer Spray, though, unless you guys advise against it.

My order arrived today and I used the Polymer Spray on one panel. My wife saw it and guess who wants her whole car done tomorrow? Try it, you will be pleased.

Dear Timbrr

I ordered some today and probably will receive it on Friday. I hope it works as well for me as it is for you.

I'm also curious as to how this product compares to opti-seal.

Boy it is expensive though, only WOWA that is more expensive is the Zaino. Is this really slicker than Opti-Seal or UPGP?

Doesn't seem like that big a price difference? 8 oz size is just $5 more expensive than OS, and the 4 oz size is actually $2 cheaper than the 4 oz UPGP...

I Wonder how it's durability stacks up to Opti Seal.
Obviously there hasn't been enough time for me to personally test the durability, but from what I've been told this product has more durability than OptiSeal, and a little less than UPGP. I'm not sure if any durability testing has been done on layers though, so you might be able to creep up on UPGP if you apply mutiple layers.

instead of polishing my lights could i just use this ?
This product is just an LSP, it doesn't have any cleaners or cutting ability to it. If you have dull headlights you would still need to polish them, but you could use this to protect them and keep them crystal clear.

See above :props:

I have a spreadsheet that didn't have the 4oz size of UGPG, but I added it:

Zaino, 6oz $4.99/oz
UPGP, 4oz $4.99/oz
BFCS, 4oz $4.49/oz
UPGP, 12 oz $3.33/oz
OS, 8oz $3.12/oz

Heh...never can get columns to work right in forums.

The BFCS also has an 8 oz size at 29.99, so $3.75/oz - somewhat more expensive than UPGP, but not at the level of ZCS :D

On a tangent, I'd always wondered, which Duragloss product corresponds to ZCS?

Edit: Hmmm, a Google search reveals something called EnviroShield... wonder why they never released that in the US - seems to be out in our region, wonder if I can get my hands on a bottle...

Hey, thanks for pointing out the larger size of BFCS, I didn't see it and I'll add that to my spreadsheet. I was going to touch on your tangent, but decided this wasn't the appropriate thread for that.

Great stuff Nick. I can't wait for warmer weather to give this a try.

No problem - thought you might have missed it, I didn't see it at first myself.

Heh, true, and might definitely derail the thread a bit if discussed further :)

Would this be something that you could apply in your garage in the winter to keep the paint's protection up?

Absolutely. As quick and easy as it is to use, it makes a great stand-alone LSP or as topper over BFWD.

What if you put 3 coats of CS?

Once you get to two coats, anything beyond that won't be beneficial. I've been playing around with this product for a while and I've found two coats to do the trick. As for maintenance, Blackfire Wet Diamond Polymer Spray is the icing on the cake after every other wash. It will boost the protection while restoring the gloss and slickness.

I don't believe this has been mentioned yet:
But why does it take so long (11 minutes) to "Crystal Seal" a vehicle?

I betcha I know someone who wouldn't waste so much time:

J/K around Nick...
A promising looking product, indeed! Thanks for your excellent review, as always.

Bob,

Your input, and sense of humor, is always noticed and appreciated. :dblthumb2:

Had a chance to use Crystal Spray...very nice. Once the MF pad is primed with a spray or two, just one spray to a panel (no more to MF....less is more).

Is it better than UPGP or OptiSeal?...I can't say. Slick like BFWD.

Nick, you mentioned that it should always be sprayed directly on the panel - why is that? I've always sprayed Opti-Seal on the applicator rather than the paint.

I have both upgp and os right now . sometime just spray on applicator and sometime spray once on panel after giving spray for priming the applicator . I found the result is always the same.
Is crystal seal can give the different result when spray it on the panel directly ?

I applied a second coat within an hour and didn't have any issues.

Thanks. :dblthumb2:

Nick, can we see some issue even though the first layer not fully cured yet ?

I've played around with both techniques, and I've found that I use less product spraying it directly onto the panel.

The second coat just ensures complete coverage, but it's not always necessary. I've been sticking with one coat on my daily driver.
