I started to order some Blackfire Midnight sun spray wax but am holding off thinking about it. My concern or question is...The Midnight sun is about $23 a bottle. Meguires D-156 is about the same price for a gallon. I have used D-156 and am trying to justify spendin so much more for Midnight Sun. Has anyone tried a side by side comparison of the two or is the only difference going to be in the looks?

BF midnight sun has carnuba so it'll have that carnuba "glow". D156 is hard to beat price wise though and it's so easy to use...

•IMO:
-It depends if you want a spray product that
contains a natural wax (like carnauba), or not.

•So:
-Does BF Midnight Sun Spray Wax
contain any natural wax(es)? :dunno:

•Note:
-D156 does not contain any natural wax(es)!

Bob you may find this recent post interesting regarding what Meguiar's products contain carnauba. D156 is on that list.

Which Products Contain Carnauba?
IMHO:
Can't have it both ways!!

I like my synthetics separate from my carnauba. so I go with a good wax then use the d156 as a drying aide after washing. kinda like a wax booster. on my second bottle/gallon of d156. so far that is the only detail;ing product I have bought twice. if that means anything to anybody.

I've used them both, and frankly you can't go wrong either way. If you're a production detailer then Meguiar's is the obvious choice because of the price. If you're just working on your own vehicles, chances are your ultimate goal is to achieve the highest levels of gloss and slickness. If that's the case then BLACKFIRE is a no brainer.

If it were me D156. Nothing can justify the price difference.

I thought the same thing about a (C7) Corvette until I drove one. Up until that point I thought my Civic Si was the cat's meow. :dblthumb2:

There are a couple of post that seem to be incorrect here? One person states "D-156 has no carnauba". Another poster quotes Michel Stoops as saying that D-156 has no carnauba or other naturally occurring wax in it"
IF WE WILL ALL GO TO THE Meguiars Online.com web site and scroll down to the post by Michael Stoops dated May 26,2015 under the topic of "Which products contain carnauba" he states, and I quote "Products like Ultimate Quick Wax get the majority of their protection from the polymers used. Any carnauba content in them is secondary" ALSO in the same post he list products that have carnauba. D-156 in on that list!

Lol you car analogy is a little off base. Backfire is far from a corvette and D156 is far better than an economy car.

Is Meguiar"s becoming another Chemical Guy's?

Please explain...I don't get the comparison you are trying to make. I was simply referring to that web site because Michael Stoops had some good information there on the subject discussed we have been discussing. Chemical Guys may be pretty good in their own right but I would trust Mike stoops opinion on just about anything detail related....Period. :xyxthumbs:

Regarding D156 having/not having
carnauba/other natural waxes:

Mr. Stoops has said it both ways on the
Meguiar's online forum.
(Please see my posting #6 in this thread.)

Bob...correct me if I am wrong...on 7-27 you posted that "D-156 has no carnauba" or am I missing something?
Definitely missing something, IMHO.

(Please see my above posting #15 in this thread.)

So the conclusion I'm getting is d156 does and does not have carnuba. Clear as mud.

Blackfire is good stuff...The label says carnauba too!

Want to just go ahead and say that D156 is a
hybrid detailing spray-product...and call it a day? :)
