I’m not aware of Torque sealant, but if it came out great in your eyes, it may very well have been wise.

Torque sealant I found on line...no stores carry it...its easy to put on and take off....one more question ...if I ever want to put a ceramic coat on do I need to strip off the sealant

You will need to strip any sealant for a clean surface or primer prior to the coating.

More than “strip”. Polish the stuff off. Wax removers and stripping soaps wont get you a totally clean surface.

So if you clay, then prep the paint, si02 and it looks great but you want to add blackfire coating you would need to strip the si02,?? Thanks for any help. Just trying to figure it all out.

Yessir. For a coating to bond it needs to be applied to a truly bare and prepped surface. This means after washing and claying, polishing the paint. This cleans and removes the outermost layer of stuff that could interfere with the bonding. Then, the surface needs to be wiped with a surface prep product (or isopropyl alcohol) to remove the lubricating oils that were left behind from the polish step. Then, you can apply the coating. The SiO2 spray can be used to top and maintain the coating after that.

That’s what I figured. I have polished and wiped it with paint prep but I put the sealant on first. So now I gotta start over do it all again LOL I shoulda read more although it should go pretty quick because my paint is flawless now.

Yes if you are talking a true coating with a high % of Sio2.

Alot of things are called coatings but are just actual sealants with a little Sio2 in them.

If one of the Sio2 sealants your fine to top

I got the kit from blackfire. It’s Si02 then it has a small bottle of coating. Can I use the coating on top of the si02!

No the coating is either rated >2yrs or >5yrs depending on one you got.

The sio2 sealant is 3-6 months at best. The Sio2 coating will not let the primary coating adhere.... bare paint is necessary.

Apply the Sio2 to maintain the BlacFire coating.

Live and learn, lol. Since you already did it I would just hit it with the lightest pad and polish combo you have, just enough to clean the surface. No need to take off more clear if it's not needed. Quick passes and small amounts of product.

Keep us updated on your progress!
