I have a lot of the old BF Long Lasting Tire Gel on hand. Besides using it on my tires (as prescribed), what would you gys think about using it in exterior black trim?

That could get messy... and if you used it in the rubber on the doors, I wonder if you'd get squeaking...? If you do decide to try this, I'd be interested to know the results!

I'm sure it would darken it but I would be worried about it running down onto the paint in a rain or something. I would just reserve that for its intended use and get some Ultima Tire and Trim Guard for the exterior black trim :)

I don't think it would be the best on trim, but you could try it on your own car. You would want to make sure to buff it dry, to help prevent running, but it might be a losing battle. If you have too much, I'd be happy to take it off your hands for you....;)

Thank you, everyone. I think I'll nix that idea and just stick to the prescribed application. The last thing I would want is having it sling around or slide down onto my paintwork.

Btw, I don't have sooo much of it, but was curious if it was a one-show pony.

Thanks again

Yeah generally speaking the dressing itself makes the tire shine by getting absorbed into the rubber. Can't really do that with plastic. As for the rubber trim on doors, it could actually work to make it darker, but for increasing its chances of hardening/cracking (since it's made for tires, something that is significantly thicker), I wouldn't know.

I would just suggest you using some sort of trim sealant like UTTG or something, and if you wanted to do the rubber seals on doors and trunks, use 1Z Gummi Pfledge; it's made for uses on that stuff, and (to my experience), keeps the rubber soft, even during harsh winters.

I tried to use Meguiar's Endurance Tire Gel on rear bumper plastic trim on my car.
I applied with a sponge applicator. It goes on thin and nice, darken the plastic from grey to black. It also beads water on the trim piece and nothing messy or sticky was observed even if i drive in rain. The grape gel dries to touch afterwards.

So I would say using Blackfire tire gel on rims should be fine. Just make sure you give enough time for the product to dry after application.

Many products are multi-functional and I wouldn't be surprised is BlackFire Tire Gel worked well on plastic or rubber trim. When you apply it be sure to test an area then rub it in so it won't run.

It can't hurt to try.....:props:

Good stuff guys. If I get crazy and try I out, I'll let you know and post pics.

I know the new formula works great on rubber and plastic trim. even beads water like a sealant and last. no run or streaks.

Agee! Used the new version on the running boards on my truck and made them look like new. Still look good after a wash and some rain yesterday and today.
