I have a few questions for you. I just purchased the blackfire wet diamond kit with the Paint protection and the Blackfire midnight wax.

This is for my wife 08 nissan altima. These are the steps i took, please let me know if i did anything wrong here.

1)First i washed the car
2)clayed the car
3)I used wolfgang finish enhancer to clean the paint, applied by hand
4) I applied the Paint protection sealant (black CCS pad) speed 3
5) Applied the Wax (gold CCS pad) speed 1
Using the FLEX DA polisher

All new pads were used, as well as all new microfiber towels, It was a cloudy day when i did the car, but noticed the next day in the sun, i saw a few holograms in the paint. I have 3 other cars and never created holograms before, so i am wondering what i did wrong? Could these pads create the holograms? After reading a ton of info, a lot of people believe it is left over product and to remove it using IPA, will that take the sealant off? are the holograms under the sealant now? any help is greatly appreciated

When i applied the wax, i took the wax out and applied it to the pad, could i have created the holograms not using enough wax, maybe the pad was dry?

Thanks

Steve

Are you applying the products in a circular motion or a back and forth motion?

Did you let the Blackfire sealant cure for 12 hours before applying the Midnight Sun?

Any product put on by hand is in a back and for motion, not circular, most products i use my flex da for. As for the sealant drying for 12 hours, I removed the sealant after about 10 -15 minutes, no where on the bottle did it say 12 hours.. It says on the bottle buff until product starts to haze the. Remove... I thought 12 hours was for max protection, how could that cause holograms?? And how can I correct it??

I apply the products with the flex da polisher using a back and forth motion, never circular.

You can remove it after it hazes (10-15 min.), but it needs to cross link for 12 hours. Meaning no moisture or applying a wax for 12 hours.

I can't see how you put holograms in your paint using a DA.

So how do I correct my problem? Using IPA will remove the wax, but I don't want to remove the sealant. I really appreciate all your help

I think what Rsurfer meant was, did you wait 12 hours after buffing, to allow for curing, before applying the wax?

+1.... you need to let the BFWD cure before you apply any wax.

That said, apply BFWD very sparingly as using too much product can create a similar hologram effect.

Ok, so I did not wait 12 hours for my sealant to cure.. I put the wax on about a hour after.. What can I do now to correct my problem??

What will the citrus wash do? Remove the wax? And do I need to apply all the products again? What am I attempting to remove? Meaning what happened by me applying the wax and not giving the sealant time to dry???

Waxes do contain solvents and because you didn't let the sealant cure, it could have soften the sealant causing the holograms (ghosting) or you may have over applied the wax. The sure way is to lightly polish again and then seal and wax. Or you can try using a strong citrus wash (CG Citrus Wash and Gloss) or some APC mixed in with your wash soap. The idea is to remove the surface wax.

What is APC? If i am understanding correctly, I need to remove the wax, the sealant is still ok? So the ghosting is above the sealant? If so, shouldn't the wax wear away after a few weeks anyway? Here in jersey the weather elements take a toll on our exterior.

After reading up on the CG citrus wash, it doesn't really say it removed wax, so what is it this wash is going to do for me? Just curious the advantage this has over my optima car wash and my CG HONEYDEW SNOW foam..

BFWD cures way quicker than 12 hrs, Todd stated on ACC in a really detailed thread. It's a good read if you ever run across it!:dblthumb2:

I would leave it alone with what you did and when you re-wax when it needs it read up on cure time for the BFWD. I would think you should be good for 2-3 months at least with what you did.
